I took this excursion as a day trip from Antigua. We left at 2:00 PM and it was about a 1 hour and 45-minute ride. As soon as we got out of our van, there were young boys about 6 inches from our faces selling...More

If you've never been to a volcano, you should go to this one. It is a fairly steep and steady climb to the top (about 6km round-trip), but worth it for first-time volcano viewers. There are pretty views along the hike of the surrounding areas....More

Be prepared to pay the park entry fee which is not generally included in the tour fee. In august the clouds can come over and obscure the view in the afternoon so the chances of a good view are improved. This may not be the...More

This day trip is not to be missed. The climb up is steep and tiring but was not too long. If you are unfit or have knee or ankle problems then you can hire a horse to take you up. I found going down was...More

We did pacaya as we could not afford to do the acatenango, or had enough time. It was okay and that's it. Most places want 80q for the tour, we managed to barter it down to 50q. We asked if it was a bilingual tour...More

We did the hiking tour, it is not very difficult but needs some cardio to go up. Nature is very beautiful, its a unique scenery. You can grill marshmallows in the steam from the volcano. Its a must to do trip while in Guatemala.

Was a good and easy hike, takes about an hour. The scenery was beautiful. Our group wasn't the only one though. And ask around about the price for the trip, some places wanted to rip us off.

This Volcano is a must do in Antigua if you don't want to do the overnight hike up the active volcano. Really nice tour guides (you will need to understand some Spanish). Walk can be tough in places but there are options to have horses...More

Someone else told us about this, then booked it for us, so we were ignorant to what was involved (our fault). So, we were surprised at the 1hr 45 min drive to the volcano car park. And, having used numerous drivers during our time in...More

Never in my life did I think I would be climbing a volcano, well we did. It was so much fun. If you haven't hiked before you can handle it, it will be a bit challenging, but not crazy. You can always take the cattle...More

Sorry for not answering fast, I just saw the question now. I apologize... When I went to Pacaya Volcano, it was active, and erupted like 2 years before my visit, but, I felt the hot of the lava underneath the black stone... More
