This is a really beautiful plaza in central Antigua. It is a great place to dedicate as a meeting place. You are surrounded by great cafes, restaurants, and historical buildings. The plaza is a spot offering shade and an interesting fountain. People lounge, taking their siestas, playing with their children, and nibbling on vendor food. As with anywhere, beware the... More

A beautiful treed park in central Antigua. Many benches and shade invite you to sit for a while - in daylight. Right across from the cathedral. There are fountains, flowers and people to watch. Nice spot for a break.

Best place to have a snack and watch people. Native people, tourist and just relax. There are a lot of vendors and small eateries near by. A must while in Antigua.

there is always activity in the park; families, teens, and everyone else sits or walks through the park with the fountain that contains the Sirens. ( it is quite controversial) A great place to cool off or meet friends. Last Friday there was a band concert across the street. It is truly the "happening" place.

This park is lovely. Lots of shade, and many benches for you to sit and watch the world go by. Well used by locals as well as tourists.

Like anyplace, you need to be aware of what is around you. You'll likely be approached by the local mujeres to buy a necklace or scarf, but as long as you're polite they'll leave you be. If you're not there during the heavy tourist season they'll be less police, so make sure you don't have much on you. Otherwise, this... More

I went through the main plaza alone (I was 22 years old at the time). I was warned on many occasions about my safety. But I had the opposite experience! I met a local jewelry vendor named Osman. I saw him several times throughout my stay in Antigua. He was extremely friendly! Obviously I kept my guard up and practiced... More

Parque Central is the typical central meeting/social place of the city---as with all South and Central American Cities. Surrounded on all sides by buildings/businesses. Easy to stroll around; musicians and performers are out on a nice day. Cafes and stores are just across the street. Beautiful fountain in the center. At night, the lighting of the surrounding buildings is beautiful.... More

My husband, son and I visited this park on May 2nd and 3rd. I found it rather intriguing with the beauty of the cathedral, and other buildings architeture, the fact there were street vendors (many) selling various items, they would follow up and ask you to buy, which I just kept walking, but there were so many citizens there just... It is the center of town so you can't miss it. It is a vibrant part of Antiqua. Sometimes the vendors are a little aggressive but polite.
