We did the guided overnight trek (20th + 21st of May). The hike was hard but definitely worth it! The view from the camp is amazing as you can already see the Fuego erupting. In the morning you hike up to the summit to see...More

Probably the toughest think I have ever done physically was climb Acatenango but oh so worth it. We will never forget the Volcano erupting multiple times while we were up there. First ash plumbs during the day and two large volcanic eruptions while we slept...More

I fully recomend the overnight stay in Volcano Acatenango. The view to the active Volcano Fuego is amazing. You can see lava and eruptions for whole night. And the sunrise in the Acatenango summit makes you impressed!

We signed up to do this trek with Gilmer Soy's team. I cannot recommend his team enough. They are incredibly helpful, kind, and accommodating to the needs of all hikers in the group, as we were a mix of experienced and unexperienced trekkers. My husband...More

Does this initiative have a website? I thought I knew who I was going to book through but feel like we are paying a lot if we go through them....

Hi everybody, I did the volcano hike in october 2016 and now I want to write an article about it. To do so I need some more information, which I neither could find in my travel guide nor on the internet. This is what I am looking for: How far and at what direction from Antigua is the volcano located? At what altitude does the hike begin and at what altitude are the basecamps settled? And what is the approximate temperature distance between the point where the hike starts, the basecamp and the summit of the volcano? I would be very happy if anyone knew where I can find answers to these questions. Beforehand thank you for your effort :) !
