I would highly recommend visiting the coffee museum and doing the coffee tour in Antigua. Its very informative and the coffee is very good. They also have english speaking guides. You can get a free shuttle bus from parque central in front of the cathedral every hour on the hour between 9am - 3pm. it costs 50 q's per person. It's open Monday - Friday 8.30 - 5pm, Saturday from 8.30am to 3pm and Sunday its closed.

I first read about this on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. A free shuttle with a small faded sign will appear at 11am in front of (the left side of) cathedral by the park. The family-run facility is a short ride away and admission was Q60 (about US $8 - great value compared to the $20 you could spend on one of the plantaion only tours). It was originally owned by a Spanish woman in 1883. Our pleasant guide spoke English very well. There is a very informative coffee museum, plants, and processing area. Another guide will take you through some Mayan cultural exhibits which include depictions of daily life, costumes, a short film and demonstration of musical instruments. You will learn a lot. There are some pretty gardens and courtyards and you receive a free cup of fantastic coffee at the end. Drink it black! There is a gift shop and shaded patio area where you can relax. It was about US$8 for 1lb of coffee. It makes a great gift and you are supporting fair trade. You can also find it in town, the 8oz in a beautiful woven bag is under Q50. The shuttle has a posted schedule but was available to return me to the park around 2pm. If you are visiting Antigua a couple days I would highly recommend the experience!

Check the tours, I arrived and no tours were available before 2hours… so I just visited the museum by myself, it’s not worth going until there.. it’s super small in 15min you visited everything, at the end I wanted to try a coffee (2pm) and they told me that they were closed didn’t had any coffee to try…

I visited the coffee museum with friends in October 2012 not expecting much - had never been to a coffee plantation before. This was a real interesting visit! The first portion of our visit was spent in the Museum of Mayan Music and Instruments was very interesting and our guide was quite good at her job. She was very knowledgeable about the history and the various items in the collection. The coffee portion of the tour was just as good. This is a nice place that is set up very well.

Interesting museum for coffee. It is a little bit of a cattle drive in terms of a nose-to-tail kind of experience, but the price is right and the old equipment was fun to see. It is a little bit a a long walk to a gift shop in many ways, but still interesting.

Pleasant stop for a coffee tasting and walk around the museum . Museum bit out of date and tired, but informative on the development of coffee in Guatemala. Our Blue Planet guide ( Karen) was excellent.

I really wish I could have taken my time, walking through the music and cultural displays, and out around the coffee plantation. But, I was with a tour and had to keep up. Either way, the place is well done, the staff is knowledgeable and the coffee and chocolate samples were amazing.

Yes, you will learn about coffee, but there is much more to this place. There is also a music museum and a Native Indian museum.......plus more.
The coffee part has both indoor and outdoor areas. If you want to see the actual picking of coffee beans, then you need to come here in the fall when the beans are ripe. There is also a area where you can taste the coffee and a gift shop.
There are pathways that you can walk that goes past interesting areas, such as buildings and vegetation.
There are washrooms near the entrance but not many stalls. If you have to go, try to get there before the buses arrive.

Very enjoyable tour of a coffee farm, full of interesting exhibits and fascinating facts, if better to visit when the coffee beans are being picked and processed.
Casa K'Ojom, a traditional Mayan music museum, is most unusual and something of an education for all but the most knowledgeable in this particular field.

Very interesting place. Much more than a coffee shop/ plantation. you can collect a lot of informations about coffee - plant, production, tastes. I highly recommend the shop, where you can try some good coffee and buy it. Also - very good local chocolate and - you must try! - the confiture from the cofee and fruits. The stuffs are very friendly, speaking in few languages.
