Tiny place with two old fire carts. History is interesting but not much to do here. It is near Greater Light so you can pop in and see these at the same time. If pressed for time, I would skip this one.

This was a part of our whaling museum tour package. It starts off with a video, I thought it was a bit long. But I didn't know about the huge fire before watching it, so I guess it was worth it. The tour guide on...More

This was my first historic site stop after the whaling museum, and it was a fascinating one. You will learn about the great fire of 1846 as well as how the carts were used and hand drawn. I highly recommend it.More

The Fire Hose Cart House is a small exhibit but well worth the trip to see it. The video was very interesting on the fire of 1846. The representative was very informative and interesting. Highly recommend visiting this exhibit.

A small exhibit, but worth the trip. It is in a beautiful setting of Nantucket homes. Drop in and check it out!

An interesting looking look back into Nantucket's Fire Department history with two hand pulled fire engines and a hose real. Real good video on the fire of 1846. The docent was quiet knowledgeable.

The main attraction here is the video explaining how the Nantucket fire happened and the pattern of how most of the town was destroyed and why some buildings survived (brick). Short visit but worth the time.(unlike the greater light)

Short but interesting visit that captured the destruction of early fires and the equipment and teams that fought the fires

This little fire hose cart house only houses 2 carts but one was used in the great fire on Nantucket. There is also a short film that you can watch.
