    Emily Bay, loved it...
We swam at Emily Bay every day we were in Norfolk Island. The water is so clear you can see the sand grains even when standing in neck-deep water and the water temp was perfect for swimming. Snorkeling was OK, not great, but OK. The coral (like many places now) is quite badly bleached, although there were some colourful formations. The fish life was good though, plenty of colourful, tropical fish to see. Plenty of toilet and change-room facilities, along with picnic tables and BBQ's to select from, never crowded at all.

Second visit to Norfolk Island, and we love snorkelling in the bay. The best time is when the tide is out. Clear water and plenty of marine life to experience. Take your own gear you will be going back most days life us. It is very safe to swim 🏊‍♀️ and head out towards the loan pine 🌲 for some great coral 🪸 and plenty of fish. If you are lucky enough, you might see Doris or Honu the green 🐢 turtles

    Best thing on Norfolk
Glorious swimming area, clean safe and just beautiful. Best swimming bay in terms of 2-4 m depth and clean quiet beach anywhere I think. Probably never come back to Norfolk as it is grim and depressing in general, but the coastline is worth seeing.

Such an outstanding lagoon, sheltered from the wind and surf. The hills and reef provide a safe swimming space and the waters shimmer turquoise in the sun. Although the temperature of the water was cold, it was well worth the effort to go for a swim. Paddle boarding and ocean canoes (OCs) can be seen and would recommend this if you have availability to these crafts.

Crystal clear water and a safe swimming area. The moored pontoon was a great attraction. Some of our group also took the glass bottom boat tour in the Emily Bay Area.

I loved Emily Bay. It’s so pretty and very safe. I love to snorkel and Emily Bay isn’t tropical but there was enough variety to keep me interested around the reef along the right hand side. The coral is largely shades of brown and the fish are mostly wrasse, damsel fish, butterfly fish and a three banded fish. There’s also sea urchins. In particular, go when the tide is going out so that you are close to the fish and the coral. Even when it was windy, the bay is sheltered enough to stay warm and not rough.

You will never experience a place like Emily Bay. The history of this beautiful place is truly amazing and to swim in this pristine bay where so many, many years ago the English and convicts arrived and lived under such harsh conditions. The water is crystal clear and the gentle waves will relax you I promise! We were lucky enough to be on Norfolk Island on 6 March for their celebration day of the landing of Captain Bligh. There was a re-enactment which was just wonderful and you felt like you were back so, so long ago.

The best part of our day was our late afternoon swim in Emily Bay after a morning tripping around. This bay is accessible for all and so beautiful. Lots of fish around your feet keeps you entertained for ages.

It was wonderful to be able to go for a swim in the turquoise blue waters of this bay. We used googles and at low tide swam amongst the rocks. There were so many fish in there, quite big ones which are protected of course. It was so lovely to be able to enjoy them. Coral in there too, and the water was very clear. Loved it.

You will not believe how clear and inviting the sand and water is of this Devine place. It is a sheltered lagoon as it is protected by a large marine shelf. The place is also surrounded by history and the home of Norfolk Island’s Lone Pine. Totally safe for the whole family to swim here.

Beautiful turqoise waters, golden sand beach and sea bottom, protected by reef and gives snorkelling and glass bottom boat options, although the boat was not operating when we were there. A lovely safe beach for children, surrounded by bush where people can camp in the summer months. Clean toilet and shower facilities. Very close to the historical area of Kingston, could combine with sightseeing at the historical area.

One of the best small beaches in the world and closed tranquil water suitable for so many activities and sheltered by another "forest" of Norfolk pines. So pristine and so popular with locals and visitors alike. A camping spot like no other. If you miss Norfolk Island and Emily Bay you have missed the most unique little island in the world. Such a wonderful place with its history and people. Good for a couple of week's stay at least.
