We offer a FREE booking service in the Visitor Centre and online, 24 hours a day. Come in and check out our range of souvenirs, locally handcrafted items and specialty books.

The Visitor Centre is a great starting point on the Island for information on tours and attractions. Staff are very friendly and prices are reasonable. Cocos Island is a snorkler's paradise, and it you forget your gear, you cn always buy a set og=f goggles and snorkel; here at a rrasonable price. the only thing they did not stock when we were there, which I hope they do now of=r very soon, is reef shoes which you will need if you dont want to cut your feet of the reef.

Great little information centre.
The ladies in here are very helpful and know all the activities and tours available across the Islands. Good for renting snorkels & fins also.
Small shop in here with some tourist type gifts and also the coupons for internet access whilst you are on island.

Befiore arriving at the Islands the accommodation booking service and response to email questions were excellent
On arrival it ws great to receive, as I stepped into the terminal,a 'Whats on Guide' and 'Eating out Guide' from Lanif. Both were very useful and assisted in a wonderful week
Through the guides and Lanif and staff at the Visitor Centre I had a fun packed yet relaxing stay. I like adventure, discovering, history and hearing contempory issues. I find it impossible to pick the best activity. Instead let me list what I did

Great little place full of information. You can use the internet here for two bucks per hour and buy local sim cards for your phone as well. Staff are very friendly and genuinely go out their way to help you with booking tours, organising cars etc

Lanif is a brilliant Cocos man who manages most of the bookings on the island..Very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable he will go out if his way to confirm tours with the various operators...Great source of gifts too....

It is very hard to plan anything in Cocos Island as no one knows when anything is open or closed. We asked about a boat only to find out it didn't exists on the day we went. Everyone was helpful and friendly but as things close at odd hours, changes without notice it is very difficult to plan anything.

Family and business trip. Checked out the local swimming places, bought a few items , took a trip to Home Island. Great !

More than just a tourist information centre this also plays a community role with a small business centre as well as the expected information and booking facilities. There is a monthly news letter that highlights special events in addition to the excellent national park leaflets on geology, birds, fauna and others. This is the place to het Cocos Island specific mobile and wifi access, but really..........is that the point of being on this remote coral atoll?
Biggest down side is the limited opening hours. It is a bit frustrating to arrive on an aeroplane and then not be able to visit the centre. The staff are wonderful though, so tune into island time from the start and they will help you make the most of your visit.

Many thanks for your lovely review! We are currently looking at options to extend our opening hours to facilitate the plane arrivals and will hopefully make some positive changes in this area soon.

The Visitor Center doubles as a Community Center with computer terminals with Internet access and a quiet space to read. Tourist material is free (unlike on Christmas Island where you need to pay for it), you can buy your Internet vouchers here or just wait for your flight in a cool location. Staff are so helpful and friendly. They sell a limited stock of tourist items.

I would like to come and stay on holiday for a couple of weeks in September but unfortunately I still need to run my business while I am away. Is there reliable internet and mobile phone coverage?

Hi Simon, thanks for your question. We now have the National Broadband Network connected to our islands and as such have high speed internet available.
Your standard mainland phone will not work on Cocos, however a local phone can be hired and your mainland mobile diverted to this number.

confused about flights to cocos from mainland aus? is Perth only departure point? Virgin Blue are showing no flights for July, is it an international flight instead? Thank you

Hello. You are correct in your assumptions. Perth is currently the only airport that you can fly from to reach the Cocos Keeling Islands. Virgin Australia are now the flight provider. It is classed as an international flight. I hope this helps!

Hi there, I am planning on going to visit your gorgeous islands in August (kite surfing being one of the activities I am planning on doing) and I would appreciate any information about how best to get around the island and to the kitting beach (nearby the yacht club, I believe). Are there any shutter buses going around West island? how easy is to hire a motorbike? Thanks in advance. Susana.

Hi Susana, apologies for the delay in responding. There are a number of options. Available to hire we have push bikes, scooters and cars. In August the trade winds will be blowing so a car or scooter will be your best bet ... otherwise you will be riding into some strong headwinds to get to kite beach! I hope this helps!
