Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This charming little church stands between the Old Bazaar and Fortress Kale. It has no appeal whatsoever from the outside but your perception changes once you venture within. It is set in a small courtyard and it's interior is only around twenty foot square. It only has one main wall to look at but what a wall it is. It's adorned with numerous coloured pictures and has a beautiful gold leaf ornament to it's centre. It also has a wonderful fresco dome making this church a little hidden gem

Unfortunately i tried to visit the place on a monday and i was told it was closed as it is a museum. But there were two other potential visitors, a macedonian man and his foreign guest. I saw the caretaker carrying a key to open the church. I told him that if he opened for the two other guests, then i also was entitled to visit the place. He spoke in macedonian to the guests. Then , i realized, they pretended to leave, waiting for me to leave. I did the same, and after two minutes they went back in the church courtyard. I followed after a minute and no surprise, i saw the caretaker opening the church for them. It is obvious that closing times can be circumvented by some people with the help of a little pocket money. I find this behaviour revolting and appalling, and this way of treating tourists totally unacceptable. I sent an official complaint to the official site of the Macedonian tourist agency.

The church has the grave of the famous national hero Goce Delcev, who was fighting and gave his life for Macedonian independence from Ottoman empire in 19th century.

While I was walking on the old city I discover by mistake this beautiful church and I went straight to see it but was closed.
So the next morning before my flight I went back and I found the church open and this make very happy. Was the first Greek Orthodox I saw in Skopje .I am a Greek Orthodox and this Church was wonderful and very old. I took some photographs and I really enjoyed every minute I spend there.

If you're interested in this country's past you might want to stay away from the nationalistic kitch. This is the side of the city to be.

I found this almost by mistake. A lovely quiet place with exquisite wood carvings and paintings. Cost 120MKD (€2.00) to enter. Photography inside the chapel is not permitted but a lovely lady, who spoke French and broken English, did explain some of the history. You only need 10-15 minutes but worth seeing if you are in the area.

This is a small church in the centre of skopje at the back of the old bazaar. For a small fee you can see inside where there is very impressive hand-carved iconography which is about 8 x 3 metres and was done by only 3 craftsmen. The whole visit takes less than half an hour. Locals are quite rightly very proud of this church.

A hidden gem.. Amazing wood carvings, and overall a beautiful place, up a hill beside the old market (charsija). Bonus: the tomb of Gotce Delcev, Macedonia's famous freedom fighter.
