Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful beach, but full of rubbish that washes up on beach. We filled three bags full and left for collection. Such a shame it’s covered in shoes, straws, bottles etc, but great they provide bags to collect rubbish. Good to do our bit to help clean up on this beautiful island. Took the RAV4 there without any issues. Would definitely suggest only driver in car on way back up those two steep hills.

Its interesting to see the impact of what ends up in our oceans. The currents seem to dump a lot of it here so expect lots of flip-flops (and wood) for company.
You won't have much else company, expect some crabs.
Otherwise its an interesting beach with cliffs etc and a built in stair case to get down. Was rough water conditions when I visited.

Like it's big sister this beach is full of rubbish and given it is almost directly at the end of a 4WD track I don't understand how a major effort hasn't been put in to reduce this SIGNIFICANTLY,

A stunning picturesque beach of rock cliffs and stacks shaped by the rough big swells (at the time we went) A little too rough for a swim but certainly dip your feet in the waters, just be careful not to get carried away by the strong currents. There was a recent beach clean, so we didn't see too much scattered debris. We saw turtle nesting tracks and plenty of hermit crabs doing their hermit things. I could have stayed here the whole day! Access is by 4WD and a short boardwalk before reaching very steep steps. Make sure you're hands free going down and to look up and around and admire the cliffs that backdrop this lovely beach.

Definitely need a capable car to get down to enjoy a day out at Greta Beach - our hire RAV4 got us there without any hassles.
It's a pretty easy walk from the parking area with markers guiding you through a short jungle walk then onto a wooden boardwalk. Try and grab a stick before you venture out though - there were some pesky spider webs that aren't pleasant to get tangled in!
The boardwalk ends at a very steep set of stairs that take you down the cliff and onto the beach.
It was a bit upsetting to see the impact on this beautiful part of the coast - there was a tonne of rubbish washed up on the shore. There are bags at the entrance which you're encouraged to take down with you to fill up and take back to dispose of when you leave.
Plenty of crabs to keep you company - the hermit crabs are pretty entertaining to watch crawling across the beach.
There's really cool little cavern in the cliff face that's nice and calm for a little dip, but the main beach is a bit too reefy and rough to swim during our visit - so maybe leave your snorkel gear in the car.
A must see if you visit the island.

Lovely walk on a boardwalk to get to this beach. It ut lovely is not huge and with the tide in, not much space to walk, and a bit rough to swim, but a beautiful place none the less.

Don’t let the plastic put you off. Go there, collect a rubbish bag at the start of the track and do the environment a favour by spending a couple of hours cleaning the beach. It is a breathtaking location and hard to get down too - some fairly steep steps - but so worth the effort

Though it is only 200 meter away from the car park, I had difficulty to locate the actual track leading to the boardwalk that leads to the beach. Beautiful and picturesque sea front, worth going through the stone/jungle maze.

As others have said, this beach is full of rubbish that is washed ashore from across the ocean, which ruins the beach a bit. They do recommend that you take a bag with you to the beach and help clean it up - I did that today and it didn’t see, to make much difference so I’ll head back again before I leave to clean up some more.
The beach itself is very pretty and shelter3d and would be an awesome beach to dip your toes in the water.
You do need a 4WD to get there and the mosquitoes are out in force so make sure to take insect repellent. It’s a short walk from the carpark through rainforest and is one of the better ones on the island.

Believe it or not, the locals and many volunteers do clean up this beach regularly each tide just brings more in unfortunately.
Greta is a nesting beach for turtles so keep and eye out and give them some space if you do see any.
Have been here previously during a red crab spawning which is just such a memorable experience.
Grab a bag on your way down and give a helping hand to the turtles and crabs by collecting up some of the flotsam and jetsam. My family and I always played games like "who can collect the most thongs or bottles" (bonus points if you can find a matching pair!) or who can fill their bag the fastest.
If you go during low tide or on a calm day, go for a wander down the beach and see what you can find in the rock pools!
