Lisa hosts the best tours on Christmas Island. She knows the Island like the back of her hand and goes out of her way to ensure an exceptional experience. Her preparation is second to none and she thinks of every last detail. Highly recommend booking with her for your trip to see the very best Christmas Island has to offer, provided by someone who knows all of its hidden (and not so hidden) gems. She can access areas the standard hire cars can't and will ensure you leave feeling connected to the amazing landscapes you'll visit.

Lisa Preston took us out on a tour of many magical locations on the island and can support the spots with so much knowledge and history. So happy and would recommend Indian Ocean Experiences to anyone and everyone. Thanks heaps Lisa!

The two tours we went on provided a great overview of the island and what to expect.
Our tour guide was Chris, who did an excellent job, lots of information, but communicated at a relaxed pace.
The first tour was the introduction to CI, took about 2.5 hours and we saw the key locations and places of interest near by the Settlement.
The second was the nature tour, great sites, lots of information and conducted at a pace that all could manage.
Highly recommend.

Dear Lisa,
Thank you very much for your expertise and enthusiasm during our tours ( Orientation and nature tours)
on Christmas Island.
For a couple visiting Christmas Island for the first time, your orientation tour comprehensively covered the history of the island, gave an insight into the different cultures and shared fabulous knowledge on the animals living on the island. We definitely would not have had the same appreciation for the different cultures and animals of the island if we didn't go on this tour. Thank you very much for a fabulous time!
The nature tour was definitely something special. Thank you for modifying our tour when certain locations were closed. Your knowledge on the rainforest, the changes of the ecosystem and how strategies have assisted in taking care of the island was so informative and we had a great time looking out for things you identified during the tour over the rest of our trip. It was definitely a good introduction of what to expect during the rainforest walks in the island. We took all your tips on board and they were invaluable.
The one thing which stood out during our time with you was your passion and love for the island. We cannot thank you enough for a fantastic time.
We want to come back already!!!
Thank you very much again.

Thanks Sarah & Steve. It was an absolute pleasure to host you around our beautiful island. I am so pleased you got to experience so many aspects of our little piece of paradise - including a whaleshark! Hope you see you again here one day - and spread the word! :-)

We thoroughly enjoyed a morning tour in the Dales and the Blowholes. Chris is very knowledgeable about the island and has an engaging personality which made the tour more enjoyable. You can use his experience to guide you on making the best of your Christmas Island trip. He even makes a good cafetière! Definitely recommended.

We booked 2 tours with Lisa and the first one, an orientation tour of Christmas Island was great. The tour guide (sorry, forgot his name) was excellent. Very relaxed, friendly and informative. It wasn’t the best day for a tour with the weather being against us, but he made it a very enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend this tour. Now we cannot wait for our second tour on Cocos Island, the motorised canoe tour

Lisa Preston took us on amazing Orientation and Nature Tours on our recent visit to Christmas Island.
Both tours were exceptionally handled in both what we saw and in the amount of information Lisa gave us. She had a wealth of knowledge and gave us a well-balanced view of the Islands attractions and challenges.
The tours were not rushed, and nothing was too much trouble.
Strongly recommend that you take both these tours for your first visit to Christmas Island.
Thank you Lisa.

On my fisrt visit to Christmas Island, i was recommended to do some tours with Lisa Preston. I am so glad I took that advice. The orientation tour on our first day was informative and gave me a good idea of the layout of island as well as the history and led me on to do more tours of this facinating island. Lisa does several tours to include the birdlife of the islands and nature tours which get you up close to some of the large and small crabs which inhabit the island. The Hugh Dales waterfall was one of my highlights of the tours I took standing in the deserted rainforest under the fresh water fall with red crabs and robber crabs scuttling around. This island also offers great photo opportunities. I would really recommend you take a few tours with Lisa during your visit

From the 16th to 23rd of November 2019, we visited the Christmas Island for the purpose of education and holiday. Most of us are volunteers with the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum NUS of Singapore and it was a much anticipated trip.
Once we reached the Christmas islands, we were greeted by our enthusiastic and energetic guide Lisa. She helped us settle quickly into our quaint hotel ‘The Sunset’. The location had a glorious vista of the Indian Ocean allowing us to enjoy the majestic flight of the Booby and Frigates birds who surfed the balmy evening breeze. On the first night, we met at Flying Fish Cove where she prepared a splendid home-made barbecue dinner. I was especially impressed by the fact that she took extra consideration for my dietary requirements whilst preparing the delicious meal for the rest of the group.
Over the next 7 days, she brought us around to explore the Island’s Natural, Geo and Human history.
Highlights of the trip includes seeing the kaleidoscope of endemic animals (crabs, marine fish, birds and reptile life), visiting the island’s many geological features (beaches, coves, caves, waterfall, elevated coral rock, basalt and limestone karst) and visiting the town and its inhabitants.
Having been a long term resident on the island, Lisa has amassed a wealth of knowledge of the Island’s history, fauna & flora and its political/bureaucratic situation. During the tours, she answered our group’s myriad of questions with patience and fervour. Lisa has a very warm and friendly disposition, she guides with elan and contagious passion.
Joining her as well was Alex an Ornithologist, who helped our group identify species of endemic birds and differentiate the different species of Frigates on the island. A special shout out to him for driving the 4WD vehicle safely plus helping us take many photos.
Overall Indian Ocean Experiences surpassed our initial expectations. Lisa and her team went above & beyond to personalise the tour for our group and ensuring that we were well taken care of. We had an amazing experience in Christmas island.
Christmas island had been a place where many of us had dreamed of going and it certainly came into fruition with the help of Lisa and her team. We would like to express our sincerest thank to them for carrying up a delightful picnic lunch to the top of Hughs Dale waterfall for our enjoyment whilst we enjoyed the company of the crabs in the cool water. We would also like to convey our thanks to the people on the island who were super hospitable, making us feel at home during our short stay.
We would highly recommend this tour company and we can’t wait for our next trip to witness the Great Red Crab Migration and spawning events.
With sincere regards
Miguel Loh
PS: Thanks Lisa for helping us find the elusive Christmas Island Hawk Owl!

We had an amazing time on Christmas Island and we can't recommend Lisa highly enough. I have wanted to see the crab migration for decades so to ensure we had the best chance of seeing the crabs for this once-in-a-lifetime experience, I did the research and chose Lisa to make it all happen. Lisa told us the best time to go and booked us in for a week, with flights, accommodation, car hire and tours. Once there, Lisa provided us with up-to-date information to ensure we had the best opportunity to see the crabs . . . and we did, 2 days in a row in fact. It was incredible to see millions of crabs all over the island for a week, and on 2 mornings at the beach falling over each other trying to get to the water to throw their eggs into the sea. Lisa then took us on 2 further fantastic tours around the island and answered a barrage of questions from us and other guests. Lisa is so knowledgeable and friendly. It was like being shown around the island by a friend. She interacted with all guests like a friend and didn't even seem to notice she'd gone way over the scheduled time. Throughout the week Lisa provided us with all the information we required to make the most of our time, such as where to go snorkelling, dining, shopping, driving, etc. Whether you just want one tour or your entire holiday organised, you can't go past Lisa. Thanks very much Lisa!!!
