This was a small museum, but their collections were impressive. We were in awe of the mastodon, mammoth, and giant deer skeletons when you first walk in, but they also have a wonderful collection of dinosaur footprints. That said, the docent made the trip all...More

The new mascot is the mammoth and this museum helps you understand why. We loved looking at the fossil collection and the geologic specimens.

Knowledgeable staff, a wealth of diverse fossils, bones, and artifacts, great signs and placards! And, it's free! My only small disappointment was that their large collection of tracks didn't include descriptions of each displayed slab.

Huge, impressive collection of fossils. Can't believe there are so many in one place. Knowledgeable and friendly docents. Free admission.

A great museum that you would not expect in a small place such as Amherst. Fantastic collection of fossils, excellent for kids. Entrance is free and location is good (within campus of Amherst college) and walking distance from downtown.
