Nice Statue in Ego Alley

It's a nice statue and artistic display of the historic figure. It has weathered well and provides a nice amount of information, not too overwhelming, but interesting.

Disregard the negative reviews this is a lovely spot to sit and enjoy people watching, as well as to appreciate lovely sculpture. Young people don't know Alex Haley but he was a great travel writer, most known for the novel ROOTS - a novel loosely based on his family lore, later made into a mini series in the 70's. If... More

Make sure to walk along the waterway, his story is told on each pillar as if reading a book. One page at a time. Good photo ops and great pet friendly walk.

The set of statues are intriguing as they children sit to hear the stories being told. As Alex is sitting on a bench of sorts this provides ample seating for group photos around his figure.

This sculpture is at the end of downtown Annapolis, right at the harbor. It is located in a small paved clearing with seating around it. Even if you're not tnierested in the sculpture, the view is spectacular!

We were visiting the waterfront area and saw this grouping of beautiful statues and stopped to see the artistry and read the historical statements. The area is very small but there is sufficient area to rest for a while and reflect on the historical perspectives.

In a way this memorial seems out of place where it is, most people just walk by and never glance at it, it is right in the pedestrian walk way. There are several places to sit in this area and you could take the time to enjoy and relax and reflect on history.

A place on a bench to relax and reflect. It is a small but powerful reminder allowing you to think and feel good. Not every place does that. We found it by accident on the square at City Dock. Lucky us

Rarely does on see passers-by show interest in these statues. They seem to just be in the way and distract from the ambiance that downtown once had and the wasted space could be reclaimed to ease the pedestrian traffic flow. I absolutely love the theme of heritage and passing it down through the generations but it is a love for... More
