The campus is smaller than an average college campus, but its open to the public and has the most beautiful and historic buildings and grounds! The main building, McDowell, is open to the public and has a gorgeous great hall! You can go the admissions and ask them if you can tour the campus and they will help you out.

We took a one hour +/- walk around this campus enjoying the atmosphere of the college kids, the historical buildings, and the attractive grounds. We stopped in the bookstore which is rather small. The general experience was pleasant and we enjoyed our walk.

St. John's College is a great place to spend an hour walking around and taking in the interesting sights. It's America's third oldest college and is rich in history. They are very welcoming to visitors and it's fun to walk around the campus, watching the students come and go. And there are many cool things to check out, like: •... More

We walked across the campus and were impressed by the old buildings and the aura of times past. McDowell Hall is the oldest of buildings.

St. John's College is the third oldest school in the nation, with a curriculum centered on the great books. The beautiful campus is definitely worth a visit. The central building with the bell tower on top (McDowell) was built to be the governor's mansion, but was given to the college before it was completed. Several other buildings on campus were... Opened in 1696 it only costs about $60,000 a year to attend. A highly prestigious college in Maryland with a beautiful campus. Frances Scott Key went here. Worth a walk through when in town.

The college is old and charming having been founded in 1696 or so and it is a dandy stroll on any afternoon. They also provide several spectacular venues for weddings and receptions. We recently attended an elegant reception at the gorgeous dining hall with spectacular views and an elegant ambiance that made the experience unique and everything you want a... More

Attended a wedding at St. John's in both the chapel and the dining hall and it was a serene and gorgeous location. Tall ancient trees over spacious lawns stretching down the croquet field to the river, everything was well maintained and beautiful in this small college founded in 1793. Just an ideal spot and capped by fireworks at the Naval... More

I love to attend their Christmas musical concerts featuring music and musical instruments that go back to the 1300 - 1600's. They offer a lot of Gaelic, Irish, and European music from this time period and it is played on the musical instruments of that period. Really gets me and many others in the holiday spirit.

St. John is a unique private liberal arts college known for its distinctive curriculum centered on reading and discussing the Great Books of Western Civilization. Wow, I didn't know people specialized in such a narrow field but they've been operating since 1696, making it one of our oldest institutions of higher learning. And with tuition and fees approaching $50,000 one... More
