This is a very fun and friendly place to go to watch boats. You'll see many different size boats motoring down and back this alley, showing off and hence the name. Someone actually drove his dinghy down the alley, which received the loudest cheers. It's...More

Locals say that this place got its nickname for exactly the reason you are thinking – bigger the boat, bigger the owner’s sense of importance. We sat on a bench in the shade on the marina and watched yachts pull into harbor for about 30...More

Grab a coffee, tea, ice cream or fudge and sit a while to enjoy the people and boat watching. We were lucky enough to have a perfect weather weekend and this was one of our favorite ways to spend some time.

Nothing better than the breeze and a fresh fruit while watching the small boats come and go. Just be careful of the ducks & seagulls.

We loved it here. Treat yourself to some ice cream from across the street and sit down, relax and watch the boats. It gets crowded but it's very nice.

I promise, you probably have never seen so many sailboats and yachts in one place. Spring and Summer are absolutely the best time to wander down the alley. There is a vibe that is indescribable. Must. Experience. People eat at nearby cafes with happy leashed...More

Certainly, and there are many outdoor cafes that allow dogs. Indoors is not allowed because of silly health dept rules. Not as liberal as Europe, but outdoors is fine.
Is the tour good for a 7 year old boy?

If he likes boats he will like this area in summer. I'd suggest a ride around the harbor however. Might be more fun for a 7 year old. Would definitely take the Naval Academy tour. Lot more to see for a younger child.
