It is a life sized and therefore small statue of the 10 year old. I was literally 20 metres away photographing the Capitol and did not notice her until someone pointed her out. In front of a wall of the museum. There is another photo...More

I walked around the Capitol grounds looking at all the statues and memorials. This one choked me up a little. I vaguely remember this girl (I was only 2 years older than her). The accompanying plaque brought it all back to me. Awesome tribute.

This one has more of a symbolic meaning. It is a good reminder of the cold war time and one little girl who was asking herself a question that many people both in US and USSR asked themselves.
