The Maine State Museum is definitely worth a visit! Engaging exhibits offer learning experiences for young and old alike. It's a great place in which to fill a few hours and the price of admission is extremely easy on the pocketbook!

The weather was not good for water related activities, so we went to Augusta to the state museum. It is an interesting building with much about Maine’s history, geology, animals, industrial past, and its people. It is a good place to bring family.

Outstanding exhibits of the history of Maine from the time of the first settlers from England, and of the known history of the indigenous tribes. Exhibits include history of military, fishing, farming, lumbering, transport, industry, and of their changes with time.

The Maine State Museum is small but quite interesting. Fascinating exhibits. Take time to explore all of the floors, especially the top floor.
