We went to an apple festival here and toured several of the buildings. We expected a lot more from a Shaker Museum campus. Most of the buildngs were ramshackle and desperately needed some TLC.

Love the setting. A great barn by the Alfred Shaker buildings that holds the history and items of the Shaker community. The buildings were bought by the Catholic church in the mid 1900's but are still in tack.

This is a well-organized, attractive,invaluable historical resource on the Shaker community which once thrived in Alfred. Like several other Shaker Museums, many of the buildings are owned by others and in use, but the Alfred Museum was apparently recently opened to care for and exhibit important holdings from this community. It is run by volunteers, and is two rooms very worth...More
