This is one of our favorite camping parks around. Toledo Bend South State Park is very near the Toledo Bend dam and has some fantastic fishing. Camp sites are nice and well maintained. This park fills up on weekends so reservations are needed and Louisiana is great because they allow reserving your favorite site ahead of time to get a... More

We came on a day trip and were very impressed with the beautiful setting, great trails, and excellent facilities. Everything was well-maintained and family-friendly. There's a small but very nice wildlife museum for kids in the visitors' center. Well worth checking out. All of the museum displays were very professional and engaging. And there were comfy leather couches if you... More

We were running late getting to this park due to Baton Rouge traffic. The park office closes at 5pm so I called ahead. Since we had already reserved and paid online, the lady gave me the gate code and said just to park in our spot. Some of the roads within the park had huge potholes. We had a gorgeous... More

We where here two years ago, park is generally a family kind of place plenty to do for a day or two. Restaurants are all over a half hour drive away. Internet is not only slow but also restricted. Roads are still rough and not my idea of big rig friendly. People that work here are great!

The park is about 20 miles out from Anacoco. We went there for a large family gathering utilizing 5 of the cabins. Check in was smooth and we were on our way. Parking for Cabin 18 was convenient. 1st impression of the interior was good. Bigger than I had envisioned. Walk in to a spacious living room with a couch,... More

We took the kids here for a day trip and they had a blast. I love the park and the area. It is right on the boarder of Texas and Louisianna so it is like being in both states at the same time. Love Toledo Bend Military Recreation area as well. If you are a veteran than you need to... More

Our Troop had planned to camp at this park, and we were not disappointed. As Scouts, they chose to use "primitive camp sites." I can tell you primitive 3,4& 5 have front row views of the lake. Site 4&5 are about 15' from the bluff; so if you have small children please be careful. Their is barricade safety tape, but... More

The park is beautiful. Love the primitive campsites. There was a burn ban in effect, so no hot meals was kind of disappointing, but understand that is beyond their control. My only complaint was spiders! Along the Hippie Point trail there were webs all in the trees. And on the beaches under the cliffs, there were hundreds!! Mostly Daddy Long... More
