We loved Palmetto Island and will definitely be back soon. We stayed in a tent (had water and electric hookups). Bathroom/shower facilities are VERY clean - in fact, the park overall is very clean and well kept. Park map is easy to follow as the park is not one of the biggest we've visited, but still plenty to do/see. Lots... More

Check out their website for events. Just went for the cracklin cookoff and almost hurt oirselves. All was free. About 30 venders and had fried sweet potatos. Boudin ball, every way to cook cracklins you can imagine and you can bring uour own icechest, chairs and have a great family time.

The newest state park in Louisiana features gorgeous walking paths, picnic gazebos, pond and river access, canoe rentals, RV hookups (plus laundry and bath houses and free wifi), a splash pad and much more! If you're wanting to get back to nature without totally letting go of modern conveniences, this is an excellent place to start. If possible, plan your... More

We stayed at the park in our fifth-wheel for three nights. Huge campsites, clean, modern facilities, and a great atmosphere. The second Saturday is Dutch Oven Gathering - and while we couldn't attend, there were quite a few people headed that way. Great place to get away from it all.

The campsites in this park are nicely laid out, the palmettos provide privacy between each. The camp hosts on site 59 and 62 were superior--keeping everything clean and providing lots of great tourist advice. Armadillo sightings we're routine, saw a wild pig and heard a few others, Great park for birdwatching. Well-maintained facilities common visibility of park personnel was appreciated.... More

This is an exceptional State Park for camping. The sites are large and have a lot of space between them, giving a nice feeling of privacy. If you can get a site on the outside edges, you look out at forest and palmettos. The only thing to be aware of: staying on weekends is full of families, kids, bikes, golf... More

Beautiful park, always clean and kept up. The splash pad is very nice and the boat docks. But Beware of the park ranger that drives a white truck, he backed up into my car & drove off quickly. Left a big dent. Other than that, I recommend this place.

Palmetto Island State Park fronts the Vermilion River as it branches out towards the Gulf — great for fishing and boating — but there's so much to enjoy here. There are wonderful cabins that sleep many, hiking trails, a water park for little ones in the summer and a canoe trail for those who rather kayak or canoe.

We were welcomed to come after office hours, advised of our site. Sites spacious, and separated by palmettos. We came across 3 Armadillos along the road the comfort stations are just that, very nice, clean and comfortable. They have large screened in porches which I trust is a very big plus during mosquito season. We left reluctantly the Friday of... More

We camped here 3 nights & the weather was cold and windy, so we didn't walk the trails. We did drive the entire park area & saw deer, wild pigs ( a family with 10 piglets), and an armadillo. We stayed close to the #2 comfort station, which was very clean and spacious. Free use of washers & dryers was... More
