Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Probably the hub of Casco Viejo. The main square where things happen and a marker to get around. Beautiful hotels are building architecture, as it's been well preserved. A good place to grab a coffee or dine at a restaurant for authentic Panamanian food. Take a moment to see the statue dedicated to General Herrera as well.

We had a delightful lunch at the restaurant on the main floor of the large hotel on this plaza. They agreed to keep our car in their valet parking while we walked around, which was a great help. The plaza and the entire old town have been completely renovated and are very pleasant to walk, eat, relax, and enjoy.

This is arguably the nicest plaza and best outdoor place to relax in the Casco Viejo area of Panama City. There is lots of shade and several comfortable benches for sunny days. It is near the boundaries noted as the safe area and on the far side of where visitors enter or stay in the area, so it is normally quite empty. In addition to a beautiful, well-kept monument to General Tomas Herrera, there are several types of flowers, bushes and trees, frequently visited by hummingbirds.

The historical site knows as City Wall - a remaining portion of the city's original fortress - is visible from the west side of the plaza. The walk from the plaza along Avenue A toward Panama Bay and the art market is narrow but features various architectures and the remnants of the beautiful Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús.

All of the downtown area is being restored and renovated which has given the area a wonderful new air while keeping the colonial style.
The square is surrounded by restaurants and bars which give many alternatives to select from.
Parking is not easy but in one of the corners there is valet parking.

One of the fantastic plazas in Old Panama. Great place on a beautiful night for a photo. Clean, safe, and there are even a few kitty cats.

This is a small plaza with a statute of Tomas Herrera on horseback. Plenty of seating in the Plaza to take a break from the heat.

One of the four main plazas within Casco Viejo, recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, this lovely plaza is surrounded by Spanish Colonial Architecture, with a bronze statue of General Tomas Herrera on horseback, presiding. Following the creation of “The State of the Isthmus”, General Herrera served as its President during the State’s brief existence.
The American Trade Hotel is situated on the Plaza. Tables are pulled into the square from nearby establishments where you can enjoy refreshments, weather permitting.

Very small park. Nothing overly special and no open benches when I tried to visit on a Saturday afternoon
