Miraflores locks

We didn't have much time, so we decided to go to the Miraflores locks to be able to see the canal at work. Great experience, we got a great view from the 4th floor.

It is a small museum with nice displays, but I felt it was too expensive. The movie, which we waited around for, was only about 15 minutes.

We have visited Miraflores locks - at observation deck and in the museum! We arrived at 8 a.m. and till 10 a.m. could see different big boats which cross the locks. After we went to the Museum - 4 floors of interesting expositions , explains about the history of Canal de Panama. After 10 a.m. no boats at the miraflores... More

This was the most interesting part of the museum where one navigate the canal digitally. One can just experience what a tremendous work is done to make this famous canal works. It is always full of " navigators " because it is not a big space. Feel like a captain for few minutes in a tight canal passage.

Although very touristy it is a must visit - have your concierge look up when the boats are coming through so you know when to visit (as there is no point in going if there are no boats going through) The viewing platform is fantastic and gives a great view of what is happening.

I found the visit ito the visitor centre underwhelming. The video was not very informative. But, it's pretty much the only place you will be able to see the locks in action.

I used Tommy Cisneros with Transporte de Turismo 507 6886 1552 and he was awesome! Came in a nice modern SUV, spoke perfect english and gave me a personalized tour of the canal for 2 hours. He never left my side and offered to help any way that he could. He also took me to the airport. No hidden costs,... More

Had friends visiting for the first time so had to go. Liked it better in the old days without the museum or movie. Lots of better movies on the canal out there.

Took a Traviatour of Panama that included the Locks and Museum. They explained every detail about the Canal while my wife and I observed the ships at the Canal. They also provide a tour of the museum which is a mush to get a feel of how it works.
