A must see even if you are doing a canal trip

If you are going on a canal trip you will benefit from seeing the locks from above and on dry land. It is quite an amazing site and the movie is really good.

Took a tour to the centre and were told to start on the 4th floor to view the ships from the observation floor. Moved down to the main floor where we watched the English version of a film on the history which runs on the hour. Went into the museum but found it continued up to the second floor and... More

I go to the Miraflores locks everytime I get the chance, is always impressive. The museum is really nice and eductaional, and the restaurant is a great place to eat while wahtching the process although the foos is not impressive.

Excellent displays of the locks/canal that were educational and provided a great history of the canal. The fourth floor observation deck is enormous with prime views of the locks in action however it was very crowded when I first arrived with many big tour groups there at once. This meant that viewing was 4-5 people deep which lead to lots... More

Great visit, great experience. Brought the little ones (1.5y and 4y) and they loved it. There is a 4th floor covered observation deck, which is great. You are right next to and above the Miraflores locks (2 lanes), and in the middle distance you can see a ship going through the new third lane (wider) if it is being used.... More

I've visited the visitors' center with a group of 20 individuals. The beauty of the center is that it is located immediately adjacent to the locks and affords a fantastic opportunity to see and understand the operation of the locks. It is also a good site for photographers.

I felt we needed to do this visit due to the historical significance of the canal. It is an impressive feat, especially given the time when it was completed. Although actually watching the ships go through was slightly underwhelming, the display centre was excellent, and I would recommend it. That being said, I'm not sure I would go back again.... More

I was lucky enough to see the last ship in the morning going through the canal. There were many tourists, but it's still possible to get a good view of the ships from almost anywhere. The exhibit is great, and very interesting, don't miss it.

I took the metro bus from Albrook Mall (25 cents off your Metro card). It leaves once an hour, on the hour. The bus driver drops you right off at the front of the museum as this is the turn-around point for his route. The cost of the museum is $15 cash only, no credit cards. Go straight up to... More
