We visited here as part of a tour from our cruise ship that was docked in Colon. It was a long bus ride to the visitor center, which was very crowded. The IMAX screen was impressive, as was the movie. However, that same movie could have been viewed on YouTube. Lastly, I was hoping to get some views of the canal or locks, perhaps from an observation platform, but that wasn't an option.

It is a nice and quite interestig film, the IMAX is well exploited, but after watching it, we were left with the question, is that it? It seemed expensive for what we got.

Dear Steve Thank you for sharing your experience, we are glad that you find the movie interesting. The Panama Canal 3D experience, is narrated by Morgan Freeman and projected in one of the 5 largest movie theaters in the world. In 45 minutes the visitors understand the history and operations of the Panama Canal at a reasonable price. Thank you very much for visiting.

This is a review of the IMAX movie only, as the rest of the exhibits were closed for renovation when we were there, and there's separate reviews of the canal itself. Definitely worth seeing the movie before looking at the canal, so that you have a better context for it. It's a decent explanation, narrated by, who else? Morgan Freeman. I hope they clone his voice, otherwise who will narrate documentaries when he's off the planet? Anyway, we'd been reading the 700+ page book about the construction of the canal, and this was considerably easier to digest. That said, even having been aware of some of the racist and colonial-mindset injustices of the way the early workers were treated, which seemed to be heavily influenced by their socio-economic status, European-American-vs. Central/South American or Asian or African origins, and we can certainly understand lingering resentments against that. But the fact is, it was American engineering, funding and project management, followed by decades of US military protection (I happened to meed a former US soldier who'd been sent to the jungles of Panama to protect the canal from Columbian dictators trying to take it over), that allowed the Panama Canal to come into operation as the greatest engineering feat of its time, one that changed theface of global commerce. Whether that's a good or bad thing is above my pay grade, but it was weird how the film almost completely removes credit for any accomplishments from the Americans, and puts pride and credit firmly on the shoulders of the Panamanians. Were we the only ones that noticed? I wonder if Morgan did when he read the script...

Rather unimpressive for an IMAX presentation. Only choice to watch is in 3D with the ridiculous dirty and smeared glasses you need you wear. Interesting to hear the history of the Canal tho’. Then you go outside to the locks and can watch the mega ships pass through. Go experience it once… but that’s enough!

This was a good movie to see how the Panama Canal was built. We purchased a package including the Visitor Center. If you have come this far, it is a must see!

I booked with TA ,my card was charged got a confirmation and booking number.Waited for our 7am pickup till 8am and NO SHOW.....
NO CALL..
We called the tour operator and they said they knew nothing. They said they would look into the tour we booked and would contact me back.
DIDN'T HAPPEN.....
Probably won't get back to Panama again so we missed out.
TA needs to vet the tour operators.
And it would be nice to get a call back regarding what happened..
Will TA make this right??? Stay tuned

We had to wait a long time and when we finally made it it was completely oversold and packed. Can not recommend it at all. The movie itself is also quite boring.

"A Land Divided, A World United," presented in stunning 3D by IMAX Canal de Panamá, is a cinematic masterpiece that offers an immersive journey through the history and significance of the Panama Canal. This film captivated me with its exceptional narration by Morgan Freeman, which eloquently wove together the canal's intricate past and its monumental impact on global trade and geography.

The movie's strength lies in its ability to present historical facts and figures in an engaging and accessible manner. The narration was not only informative but also evocative, bringing to life the stories of those who built this engineering marvel. The blend of historical context with modern-day relevance makes it an enlightening watch for anyone interested in understanding how the Panama Canal bridges continents and cultures.

I wholeheartedly recommend "A Land Divided, A World United" to everyone visiting Panama. It's not just a film; it's an educational experience that encapsulates the spirit and significance of the Panama Canal. This movie is a must-see for those who wish to appreciate this world-renowned landmark.
