Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful spot to get spectacular views across all of Managua. There’s a massive statue of the historical figure Sandino at the top of the lookout. It’s $1 entry per person – can pay in USD or cordobas. There’s plenty of parking on site. Keep in mind there’s not too much shade here, so bring plenty of sun protection, especially if you are coming on a hot day.

It is located in an elevated place and one can see both the new and old parts of Managua. There is a big signage that says “ I love (heart sign) MGA” where one can do selfies. In addition, there are the Nicaraguan National flag and the FSLN flag proudly swaying next to the Sandino black statue.

There is a small fee to enter this attraction. Restrooms are available on the right side of this area. Enjoy your visit!

Our guide took us to Loma de Tiscapa as our first stop of the city tour.

It was the best place to start as you can the most amazing vantage point of the entire city.

It was also a great way to learn some history of this beautiful city and country!

This was one of the more interesting stops in Managua. A small museum talks about the founder of their revolution and there are nice views over the city and lakefront from the hill where the palace used to be.

There's a lot of things to see here. However, I'd HIGHLY recommend the zip line! There are three lines you can take. The first two are 500m long going high above the trees. The last line is 520m long and it goes over the lagoon. The zip lines are quite high in the air (50-200 ft high at various places), which makes for an amazing view as you travel along. You can get some great speed on the lines, especially on the last one. It was both a great sight to see and a great thrill.

The staff at the zip line were excellent. I recognize some of these fellows as the same staff who also work at the zip line in Mombacho. The staff are excellent and very safety conscious. They were very friendly and tremendously fun. Again - I would HIGHLY recommend doing this zip line!

From this place you can see a large part of Managua City, the lake, a lagoon and the Momotombo volcano. The view is really excellent.

The place is easy to find, you will see the Sandino figure from all over the town. BTW I was told that this was the place he was assassinated, by the former presidential palace. There is also a memorial to those who died in the revolution, Monumento el Soldado Conocido, and some historical information and photos.

Start walking uphill at the Crowne Plaza, walking up the hill takes a while (15 minutes or so), so avoid doing it on a hot day, or bring water. When I was there you could buy ice-cream and fruit from street vendors.

From there you can an excellent view. However, by visiting this place you are contributing to the the regime of Ortega-Murillo, and participating of the "everything is ok in Nicaragua" that they want to sell.

Did you that under this place the regime of Ortega has tortured thousands of Nicaraguans (most of them students).

Go down to the museum and learn part

It's a beautiful view of Managua but there should be a really nice restaurant up there. An overpriced glorified cafe but nothing stellar. If you just want a nice overview of the city this is the place to get it.

We visited this after Lonely Planet recommended the canopy walk, but it's not there any more. You do get a good view over Managua and of Tiscapa, but there is not a lot else to do....
