Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The place was closed when I visited it. I was impressed by its size and noted the ample number of parking spaces for visitors. I took some pictures and promised myself to be back here to see a live show.
Accross from this attractions are tents that appeared to have some circus shows. Will try to see them too.

It was our delight to find a reading of Dario's poetry one evening at the National Theatre Building which bears his name. The exterior of the building is not overly exciting but the decoration on the inside are worth the price of admission alone. The theatre changes it's performances often and it is noted for the variety of production. Unfortunately, the Teatro is closed if there is no perfomance though if there is something on, make a beeline for it! The theater is divided into 2 areas. One with a large stage and high capacity seating for larger shows and the Crystal Room with 2 magnificent crystal chandeliers for smaller shows and art exhibits.

We saw a local performance of Aladdin "Aladino" and it was well put together. It did include numbers by young dance school students who were not professional, but it did not take away from the professionalism of the play and was actually rather cute. Te event was a gala. We paid $15 for balcony seats. My only regret is that we got seats on the side which seemed like a good idea since it put us closer to the stage. However, the seats are forward facing and you had to have your head turned and half hanging over the rail to see half of the stage. Even so, I was not dissapointed with the money we spent for the quality of production.. especially in Nicaragua where things tend to be a little more "relaxed".

They say that Nicaragua is a country of surprises and sometimes there are disappointments and sometimes great pleasures in store but you have to look hard. The offerings at the Teatro Nacional Ruben Dario are very varied. One example was last evening
I am not a relative or even close friend of Mario Rochas probably the best baritone around this area who has formed a choir and enchanted his audience with talented pianists and singers and gave one just one performance last night. HIs rendition of "Granada" was superb and the small audience had a wonderful evening.

The theater is NOT open for visitors unless there is an event. Its the second best rated Latin American theater after Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires. Its a must visit, and do go see a show. The theater hosts about 10 events per month, so check out whats playing.

Was invited to see a performance of "tradicional homaje a las madres" of the Ballet Folkorico Nicaraguense and we really had a nice evening watching good dancers with flamboyant traditional costumes. Large and well built theatre.

We walked extensively around the old part of Managua. This seemed to be the nicest building by far, but we didn't go inside. I have heard great things and we wish we could have catch a concert.

The national theater is a very special place, a lot of history and a well know place in Managua. I went and watched some of my students dance there very nice. As in all of Managua you must be careful, especially when alone... Good experience.

My favorite place in Managua! Nice architecture, impressive chandeliers and great Nicaraguan art exhibition was there. The security guard knew a lot about the place and the exhibiting artists. I would live to go back to watch a show

Hi, how were you able to find out who was playing at the theatre / the schedule of events? I haven't had much luck on the theatre's website (if I've been using the correct site). Thanks for your help!
