Our visit here was one of the highlights of our visit to Granada - we enjoyed a fascinating exposition of pottery techniques, met the people who live and work here, and were able to purchase some beautiful examples of their work to take home. Recommended.

A great side trip from Granada or Managua - San Juan de Oriente. Artisans, who have been creating pottery here for hundreds of years, offer many choices of local souvenirs. We strayed away from the main road and found several shoppes, with a great variety. Bring cords (cordobas) as they generally won't take U.S. dollars.

We wanted a private tour guide and private transport between Managua and Granada. We found the perfect English speaking guide, he is not associated with the several tour companies, therefore your tour is customized. His name is Jorge Selva Gutierrez. He approached us while we were eating lunch and offered his tours. We were skeptical but decided to go with... More

Founded in 1524 by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba, Granada, Nicaragua still has old world charm. I traveled to this colonial city, which sits on the edge of Lake Nicaragua, and is about an hour south of the capital city of Managua, for several hours. The cathedral, which sits in the Spanish style plaze, is quite imposing, and quite beautiful. The... More

One of the best reasons to visit Granada is that you can take a side trip to San Juan De Oriente, about 5 or 10 miles away. San Juan de Oriente is the pottery making center of Nicaragua. A new gallery has been established there, Coquitl, which is owned and operated by some very talented artisans (and friends) including Jose... More

We stayed in Boaca about two hours from Managua from which we went out to the rural communities and preached the gospel. We ate our meals in Boaca and had various kinds of cuisine. The food was inexpensive and delicious. Hearty means for a fraction of what it costs to eat in the USA. On our visits to rural areas... More
