A very historic and impressive place. The monastery offers amazing views. A climb to bell tower was worth for a multi dollar view. Walk inside the caves was interesting. Our guide shared many stories/facts about the place and the people associated.

Such a beautiful and impressive place, but quite difficult to navigate. Not that many signs in English (only in Cyrillic) and the area is massive. We were able to find the "caves" eventually on our own at the furthest corner of the complex but then...More

The caves were spooky, unusual in that you could feel the floor going downhill, and ancient. Fascinating place with incredible history. The art work was beyond amazing! The people friendly.

As an open minded atheist this was a special experience. The buildings were huge, beautiful and to my surprise it were separate buildings. On pictures, and far away views it seemed to me as one big total. But is wasn't. Most of the visitors are...More

What you get out of visiting the Lavra will depend somewhat on your own personality, spirituality, and openness towards Eastern Orthodoxy, but whatever your beliefs you cannot leave untouched by the beauty of this place. Those who come to worship are respectful. ‘Westerners’ who maybe...More

Undoubtedly the whole complex and its location is magnificent and, in a way, overwhelming. It was a bit overwhelming because the whole place was not very well signposted, and the map given at the ticket booth is not very informative. Both churches were quite magnificent...More
