Once you will be in Lavra, you can come to this memorial, which is across of street. It is a quite place to sit and to rest. The memorial reminds the not so far history of the country and the USSR.

This monument reflects very well the tragedy of the young men sent to kill and die in Afghanistan. I am now reading a collection of memories belonging to former soldiers and they are both chilling and tragic. The monument is in a quiet place near the Pechersk-Lavra complex, so see it and take a moment to reflect.

Back then, we were on very different sides. Still, young men go out to die for corrupt old politicians telling tales of honor, duty, and country. Regardless of politics, we all remember those who came before us but never made it home. We may go for different reasons, but we always fight for the same reason - the men next... More

On every visit to Kiev I visit this memorial to pay my respects (being a military veteran myself). It is situated between the Pechersk Lavra and Museum of the Great Patriotic War (and about 15mins walk from my in-laws). Always adorned with flowers, it is a fitting memorial to those Ukrainians who gave so much. Beautifully presented.

this was not a place for the friendly folk, everywhere you go you hear gun shots, explosions, and Taliban just ruin your day of seeing these wonderful masterpieces although it was rather interesting to read all

We happened across this monument as we left the Pechersk Lavra (Caves monestaries) heading for the Museum of the Great patriotic war. It's on the opposite side of the road to the monestaries, on the RHS as you head towards the museum. A statue of three troops, one knelt on rememberance two stood in defiance the memorial is remarkable for... More
