Definitely worth a trip even in snowy December. We went with a local so braved the trolley bus from the metro which saved a hike along the immense highway. Apparently any bus journey is currently 3 Hrivna and forthcoming stops generally announced. The monastery complex is walled and much smaller and quieter than the Pechersk- Lavra. St Michael's Church feels... More

Quiet, lovely, with a walk through a park to get there. What more could one want from a house of God? The sense of history (a Primary Chronicle copy was discovered here), the relative lack of tourists, the humble setting - Vydubychi is everything that the Lavra is not. A peaceful, restful place. Please show regard for the Orthodox believers... More

Amazing to see the underground catacombs of this monastery. Excellently preserved and freely accessible.

I first visited this Monastery in 2004 and have returned to it on many occasions when I am in Kyiv. My 2016 visit was just as spiritual and awesome as my first visit. Beautiful grounds encompass several internal monastery buildings. The holiness of the place is simply amazing. My 2016 visit was luckily timed to a day before Orthodox Easter... More

Well worth a quick visit ..... very nice & unique interior. Watch out for the scary Babushka guarding the front entrance, who was growling at me, for taking pictures :-))

I liked this one. It is a little out of the way, being on the backside of the Botanical Garden. But it is worth seeing. I would recommend it.

Although Vydubychi is much smaller than the Lavra, and without the catacombs and huge churches, it is my favorite monastery in Kiev. It has none of the crowds or commercialism of the Lavra, the old original church is a treasure and the grounds are beautiful. If you are looking for a spiritual experience, some here. A bit hard to get... More

Acting Orthodox monastery is open to tourists. Women entering must wear headgear headscarf. One-dome Orthodox Church built in 1070 AD. In the interior are the oil paintings of the late 19th century. There is a picture of the Last Judgment, size 9 x 9 feet. Central church in the Ukrainian Baroque style, the interior modern acrylic mural: Entry of Christ... More
