A good way to spend a day.

It will open your eyes to what the people of Ukraine have lived through. If you do not speak the language hire a guide. Well worth the investment.

I thought this place was really cool. Lots of Soviet era vehicles here. And it is perched on top of a hill that gives a great view!

the big steeless figure of 100 odd meter hight, with a sword and a shild, looks East? why? the visit was worthwhile, i liked the Afghanistan war part, as it does cover recent history (1979-1989). you can buy military memorabilia. The Patriotic War museum is modern and lacks the usual Sowjet style pathos, but rather describes the facts and daily... More

The Museum is part of the memorial complex that includes a tank park, eternal flame, and giant Motherland statue. I visited the museum (opened in 1982) in the base of the Motherland monument. It has a terrific collection of WW2 memorabilia, mostly in Ukrainian. It includes access to the Memorial Hall by foot and viewing platform by lift.

This is really about heavy hardware, tanks etc. Not been to another Museum like this one so enjoyed it. Oh and some of the statues are amazing, huge things with great detail. Well worth a visit. Lot of people recommend getting a guide, however we asked and there were none available :( Also, cheap to get in but you have... More

This was fantastic! For such a major event the museum has created quite an Artistic view The exchibition isnt in English but at the entrance to each room there is a A4 English overview. I think you can get an Audio guide if you wish. The museum also has free wifi. Fantastic monuments around here too plus a few smaller... More

The war museum is in two places, under the Motherland monument and a little to the side with the open area section. The part under the Motherland monument is well presented and curated, there are some information sheets each gallery hall in English French and few other languages but there are no translations under exhibits to say what they are.... A museum that brings one closer to the spirit that reigns in this country. I found the exhibition very complete but missed the major part by not speaking the language...

Visited in July 2014. Very impressive, could have done with more English translation, I was lucky as I was with my girlfriend and a translator!
