This was a cool spot, large array of tanks/missiles/weaponary etc plus the awesome giant mother of ukraine statue, the museums have huge display of historical war artifacts and pictures however nothing is in english at all so you don't know what a lot of them are about, its great on a sunny day you can stroll at your own pace... A wonderful location for a museum under an iconic statue on the Kiev skyline. The museum is inexpensive and even with very few of the exhibits being translated into English you fill a couple of hours while walking around. There is a cheap cafe where we got 3 drinks and 3 ice creams for less than £2!

Walking up to the museum you can't help feel very small next to the imposing building and the statues on the approach. The museum itself is well laid and some thought has obviously gone into the displays. There are cards in different languages in the entrance to most rooms however the items themselves are only in Ukrainian and Russian. But... More

Interesting place to visit and it is in the same area as Motherland statue. Inside the Motherland statue there is also a war museum but no photoes sone sadly.

Little has changed at this most impressive place, since I first started visiting when I moved to Kiev in 2001. It is a simply stunning record of Ukraine's efforts, losses and contributions during the epic conflagrations of the 20th Century. Set in well-maintained grounds, with outdoor exhibitions of tanks, vehicles, aircraft and ballistic missiles! The route through the park to... More

It will open your eyes to what the people of Ukraine have lived through. If you do not speak the language hire a guide. Well worth the investment.

I thought this place was really cool. Lots of Soviet era vehicles here. And it is perched on top of a hill that gives a great view!

the big steeless figure of 100 odd meter hight, with a sword and a shild, looks East? why? the visit was worthwhile, i liked the Afghanistan war part, as it does cover recent history (1979-1989). you can buy military memorabilia. The Patriotic War museum is modern and lacks the usual Sowjet style pathos, but rather describes the facts and daily... More

The Museum is part of the memorial complex that includes a tank park, eternal flame, and giant Motherland statue. I visited the museum (opened in 1982) in the base of the Motherland monument. It has a terrific collection of WW2 memorabilia, mostly in Ukrainian. It includes access to the Memorial Hall by foot and viewing platform by lift.

This is really about heavy hardware, tanks etc. Not been to another Museum like this one so enjoyed it. Oh and some of the statues are amazing, huge things with great detail. Well worth a visit. Lot of people recommend getting a guide, however we asked and there were none available :( Also, cheap to get in but you have... More
