A nice river, too

Not only Danube is the main river in Belgrade, but also Sava. Especially the point, where they both meet and continue their way as Danube is a place to be.

Sava river starts from Slovenia, goes through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and mounts in the Danube river in Belgrade, near the Kalemegdan fortress. It is nice and relaxing to walk by the river and visit some of the many boat restaurants there.

This river is a haven for dinner and part boats plying their trade. Water sports aplenty also. Great view of this from the fortress

14 kilometer long shore of the river Sava from Belgrade upwards, is filled with boat and raft houses that belong to middle class Belgrade families, wanting to spend every weekend at the river, fishing, swimming, picknicking... It offers nice insight in Belgrade life style and links with nature. There are boats that you can rent, or use already organised "packages"... More

From Kalemegdan(fortress), we can see very nice view of SAVA river, DUNAV river and merging point of two rivers. It's a good option to walk along with SAVA river, and, there are many restaurants along with SAVA river and DUNAV river where you can watch rivers and ships more closely.

When you are in Belgrade and you say, river Sava, people do not just mean river bank where you can stroll along. There are a lot of things that Sava river bank is famous for and not just river promenade. ON the New Belgrade side of river, there is a lot of restaurants, and clubs that often in the summer... Sava River is one of the symbols of Belgrade. It meets with Danube at the foot of Kalemegdan Fortress. Once you climb the top of the fortress, you can see the meeting point of two rivers. It's a beautiful view, especially on a sunny day. Also, from other parts of the fortress, looking across the river, you can see parts... More

River Sava is the river that once separated Serbia from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. From the bank of River Sava, the Austro-Hungarians launched the attack on Serbia after the Austro-Hungarian prince was assassinated and World War I broke up.
