So worth the visit. I saw both the European and Romanian galleries! Beautiful collections of sculptures, paintings, and religious icons. I spent three hours but I could have easily spent two more hours. Romania is amazing and has a lot to offer.

The museum is located in the former Royal Palace of Bucharest. It’s a stunning place to visit on its own (I loved the staircases and other details of the interior; check my photos). We chose to see the European Gallery with Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch and other masterpieces. We had a lovely one hour stroll. The entrance fee is more than reasonable but keep in mind it’s cash only. Taking photos is allowed. The statues in the courtyard in front of the museum were covered in clothing pieces (scarves, etc), which I thought was a fun idea. …

Visited this in February and thoroughly enjoyed the collection of Romanian Art. We paid 15 lei just for the normal romanian art exhibit and spend about 45 minutes there enjoying the place. It is a large and beautiful space with a multitude of arts ranging from medieval to modern. I would have liked more detail about some of the artworks, the plaques contained artists, locations, and dates but very few had any other details. …

Beautiful galleries go on forever. Find the amazing pieces of Orthodox churches saved from the crazy dictator's bulldozers by the workers. Enjoy the Romanian take on all the art styles through history. A bargain entrance fee plus excellent displays make it a treasure.
