Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This park is truly a hidden though not so small gem with an amazing history. It is the biggest city park in the world (190 ha), at the time built-but-never-completed as a huge city-lake by former dictator Ceacescu. Whole building blocks had to move to build the massive construction that later was badly finished and eventually caused a flood in Bucharest when trying to fill the huge site with water. after that, the site was left deserted which allowed nature to take back it's Original place, creating a whole new fauna and flora and making Vacarest Natural Park to one of Europe's strangest urban 'natural' parks. The park is now looked after a group of engaged volunteers who also managed to have it recognised as protected 'national park'. But it's only thanks to them that this wonderful place is looked after and (as much as possible) kept clean on a regular bases. Anyway, a must see when in Bucharest as one of the most fascinating examples of how failed urban politics can lead to wonderful things after all.

Clean, in the first place. Good walking on daytime. Everything seems peaceful. But I thought that there was, at least some kind of indicators what you can visit.

We didn’t know what to expect before going there for the first time one week ago. We parked the car near Asmita Towers then we entered the park. No entry fee and no one to ask for directions.
If you manage to follow the Urban Biodiversity trail (map downloaded from internet), you get to a series of observation points, with boards mostly in Romanian (and some in English as well) about the animals and plants from this area.
The place has quite a history, as an entire neighborhood was leveled to the ground to become a lake - kind of a city apocalypse.
To be mentioned the efforts of volunteers to keep this place clean and in order.
Bottom line, don’t expect a breathtaking jungle or delta, but a nice way to spend 1-2 hours away from the city jungle.
Probably we’ll come back in some years from now.

If you would like to discover the nature that is in the middle of Bucharest, this is one of the places that you need to visit.
Here the flora meet fauna. There are a lot of birds, reed, info point that explain what kind of birds you see, but also a map to understand where you are and where to go.
We visited the place in the autumn and the colors that i found were so beautiful.
The natural park is big, so be prepared to walk a lot. You can go with your bike also.
For sure i will come back in the spring to explore more. :)

A simply wonderful nature reserve located in Bucharest, only a short distance from the city centre and easily accessible by metro. Once you climb down the steep perimeter concrete slope in to the basin you feel completely detached from the surrounding urban sprawl.
Inside there are many species of flora and fauna (cormorants, lizards, toads, storks to name a few) many different routes to take, platforms for bird watching, numerous information boards and even some small sculptures dotted around.
Aside from bird watching it is ideal for either walking, cycling or picnics and, if you do not want to travel a few hours from the city to experience beautiful Romanian nature, it is ideal.
