I have visited Piata Centrala in Chișinău and Tiraspol and noticed that the second one is much more organized, neat and clean.
Many vendors try to call you to buy their products, stalls, kiosks, on the floor and other ways. A flea market leads to Piata Centrala Chișinău. Clothes, belts, bags, vegetables, nuts and fruits. Stopped for fresh pomegranate juice, clearly mentioned as 10 lei. After making us one, he asked for 100 lei. Long argument with the guide, where he said 10 lei is for one piece of pomegranate while he did 3 pieces for a cup plus he is not working for free. Please don’t from this guy, a very bad impression in Chișinău, big cheater. Don’t forget to bargain.

This is a huge local market right in downtown Chișinău. The main features seem to be fruits and vegetables and a large section with clothing. There are also numerous vendors with kitchen and other household supplies, food vendors, a watch repair stall at the entrance and probably just about anything else you could want. It gets very crowded so go early.

I am a person who love open markets like this. This market has absolutely everything from suitcases to electronics, curtains the famous bucuria sweets and just about everything. Reasonable priced clothes also . The atmosphere is quite lively here but dont waste your time asking for a discount. I asked a few time and never received. The prices here were good and loved the fresh fruits .

The market is huge with different goods in different sections. Keep going until you find your way to the food hall. There is so much food to try (pickles veg, dried fruit, berries...), some of the market holders are happy to have their photo taken and the colours and smells are difficult to forget. I'll be smiling for a while remembering this one.

One last siege. It's huge, maybe the biggest in Europe. It has all kinds of fresh produce at good prices. Very nice cheese market. You can eat at some in-house bar. There are also clothes, household things..... there is everything and you can spend a whole day

We were, my family and I, in Chisinau in July 2012, on the 1st-5th, 5 days.
Piata Centrala is many things altogether: a central bus station, an hyperactive living network of streets full of stores, shops of all kind, but also a market place in which, every day, farmers come from the country to sell their products, directly to us and absolutely fresh.
During these 5 days we were there almost everyday.
And we had there the most delicious fruits or vegetables we have eaten for a very long time.
I still remember the amazed exclamations of my wife and daughter eating just apricots.
Pure taste !
The day before it was cherries and blueberries of all kinds.
The day after incredibly tasty tomatoes and berries of other kinds.
Kvas is sold at every corner so even when it was hot, we were never thirsty.
But I must warn those who prefer silence and solitude, don't get close to this place since it is the noisy overcrowded heart of this city.
For us tourist from another world were hypermarkets rule, this was a refreshing and incredibly delicious experience...
Oh, almost forgot, it was absolutely, totally ... cheap.

A place of energy... people struggling to make a sale, others finding just the right product this is the place in Chisinau to experience the people at their best and worst. Crowded and busy it and close to the main bus lines and main streets it should not be missed.

One of the experienced I enjoyed the most in Chisinau was this market. We went there not only to buy stuff, but also for the experience itself. We returned with bags full of fresh and delicious fruits and vegetables. Local fruits are very very cheap and with an incredible rich taste. The market itself is rather chaotic, but very colorful and enjoyable, with nice people selling fresh stuff. What I like is that many of them are also farmers selling their own products.

If you wane see the real Moldova, real local people, food and behavior of the awesome population you need to visit piata centrala. Also you can find very nice and cheap products there.
