- jw6969Ascot, United Kingdom3,050 contributionsInteresting marketI thought it was fascinating to see a real local area of interest. So many of the restaurants buy their food from this market. Even on a dull December day the outside market was busy. Inside market is a bit ‘communist’ - if you get my drift. But worth seeing and if you are a tourist like us, you can’t help but pass through it.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 December 2023
- Berke AyrancıoğluGraz, Austria641 contributionsLocal Market of ZagrebA market where you can find fresh and local fruits, vegetables, flowers, meat etc. Although it is good, honestly I don't think it is really special. Its location is very central, you wouldn't lose so much time by visiting, so I would suggest.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 9 May 2024
- John SMelbourne, Australia2,017 contributionsGreat experienceThis is a large market on different levels and in a variety of spaces with each speciality grouped together. We found the fruit prices quite reasonable and everything looked fresh. There are some adjacent shops selling prepared food as well.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 May 2024

Lots of tents, all strictly red, under which we find many stalls selling all kinds of food or drinks, not to mention the souvenir shops nearby. Here you can walk among the colors, smells and aromas of fruit, vegetables, cheeses and much more. The atmosphere takes us back in time and makes us savor what Croatia has to offer. Truly characteristic!Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 1 September 2024

The central square of the Old City has this wonderful market. With the mass of red umbrellas, it calls to the visitor. Just walking through puts a smile on your face. We saw lots of fruits, nuts, mushrooms, and other produce. There are vendors that sell crafts and local home made items. We wandered through and picked up enough goodies at reasonable prices to have lunch at the cathedral fountain just around the corner. By the way, they also have very nice restrooms. Surrounding the market are some local bakeries where you can get a drink or roll to round off your lunch. A market is always the best way to know local people.

Very interesting to see outside stalls selling fresh local produce in an old fashioned type of way that has continued for many years. Alongside are stalls selling local products and goods. Underneath is another market selling cheese, fish and meat.
This market is a short walk from the main square on one side and the cathedral on the other side. It is an easy walk from this market to many of the surrounding tourist spots

This is a large mainly open-air market near the central Jelacic Square in Zagreb. We aren't big shoppers but were in the area multiple times and looked around a little as we were nearby or walking through. There are lots of fruits and vegetables, as well as more touristy souvenirs to buy. It's hard to miss if you're walking anywhere through Zagreb.

Right in the heart of Zagreb, roam through this colorful farmer's market, just up a set of stairs from Ban Jelacic Square, is a feast for the senses. Dolac is often referred to as "the belly of Zagreb" by locals. Under the iconic red umbrellas are stalls with fresh fruits and vegetables. The vendors are very warm, always wanting to try the fruits. I love the sweet Mandarin Oranges and pomegranates. Head downstairs to the covered market where you'll find butcher stalls, cheeses and dried fruits.
Love going to the local farmers market when traveling. This is always a great way to learn the the culture a d see how the local live. This is must place to visit.

The market is located a few minutes walk from where we stayed, even tough we didn’t buy anything it is worth visiting. It is colourful and the locals say it is the best place to buy fresh food from local producers. A few steps away you have the amazing cathedral and the main square.

The Dolac Market is a short distance from Zagreb main square. It is very colorful and interesting. There is an outside open market with stalls, and a sheltered market below.
You can find fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meat, fish, and much more.
Prices are generally quite affordable.

Lovely open market with so many fresh fruits, vegetables and fish, meat. home made cheese, jams etc. produced by the local farmers. We actually bought some to try and indeed they were good. A very beautiful sight with all the lovely colors and fragrances. You can cover the market and walk down towards the other side where you find the pretty souvenir stores. The place and items were very flavorful. Would recommend to visit this place if you wish to try some fresh fruits. (Visited in Sep 2019)

Hello need to know please if it is cherry season in croatia now and where can I find?? Thanks
Written 7 August 2018
There definitely were cherries when we visited the market. I am not sure though about the season.

It is open on weekdays aswell. Avoid those prices that ends on -.99 (9.99kn/12.99...) because they resell fruits and vegetables.
I would recommend one family just in the corner of market - when you go to cathedral.
