We were surprised when our guide Ante told us that he is taking us to a cemetery to see it. When we reached there then we realised it is much more than a cemetery. The entrance was beautiful and so was the inside with excellent...More

we made it a point to go to the cemetery. A bus ride is not very costly. It is a very big cemetery which has burial grounds of all religions. The landscape, sculptures, tombstones are all very interesting. This is where the first President of...More

When I first saw in an exhibition back in 2015 in Zagreb on Herman Bolle's design and works in Zagreb, including among other things, the Mirogoj cemetery, I was completely enchanted by its beauty. The design and architecture is so elegant that I decided at...More

If you enjoy cemeteries with lots of dramatic statues and ornaments, this is place to go. Most are well maintained, especially in the gallery near the entrance. It's a very mixed cemetery with catholic, orthodox and Jewish graves together. It's very easy to reach by...More

Zagreb was a little disappointing during our Croatian visit. A definite must-see is the Mirogoj Cemetery. A tour of this cemetery gives one a much better appreciation of the multi-culture nature of the former Yugoslavia, which is now broken up into 8 separate countries. The...More

Famous cemetary complex, by architect Hermann Bolle who made Zagreb Cathedral too. Worth visit if you are into architecture and landmarks. Can be seen from neighbouring hills like Cmrok.

What a beautiful place! I was totally surprised and overwhelmed, and this place really makes your mind wander. The only downside is the walkingdistance, but I guess it's possible to solve that by taking a bus. Worth visiting!

This beautiful cemetery isn't in the main centre but it's definitely worth visiting. The place is just beautiful and it has a very calming serene feel to it. Easy to get to either by walking or public transport. I spent about 30 minutes wandering around...More

A good place to reflect on life and see some interesting sculptures and architecture. Monuments to soldiers, famous Croats and family internments. It's a bit further out of the centre of town. We walked there and took a taxi back to avoid the hot afternoon...More

The Mirogoj cemetery is a place for contemplating your own memento mori but also for a beautiful art experience among the grave stones both old and new. I recommend it then you need a rest from the hectic Zagreb street life.
