After my trip around Sofia, I found myself Googling a lot of what I'd seen so I could learn more about the countries history.

Do not go out of your way to see this, rather you will pass it as part of a bus or walking tour of Sofia, or if going it alone. Sofia has many parks, and although traffic can be heavy, there are many underpasses with shops in for you to safely get across the road. The museum itself is surrounded... More

After visiting Nevsky Cathedral plan a ride under this statue (250 m away). Impressive statue but that's all.

Worth a visit as it stands opposite the Assembly. The relief on the pedestal show scenes from battles and the signing of a treaty

Every European country boasts of monuments and statues that remind of its people about honoring and remembering great heroes of their glorious past. Situated in a busy pedestrian and in front of fòod establishments, this lifelike statue gets even more beautiful when dark falls.

The Monument is located just in front of the Bulgarian Parliament. The statue is from the Bulgarian people to Tsar Alexander II and Russian Army for their contribution to the freedom of Bulgaria.

At the central square just in front of the Assembly building. An equestrian sculpture of the Tsar. The work is very impressive and the visit can be along with the visit to the Cathedral.

The statue is just another statue of the russian tsar and once you have seen it you have been there and done it. BUT it is the detail below the tzar that is fascinating.
