Good traditional working, modern setting, sloping stage with mirror effect ( reflecting the Nile. ) excellent orchestra and principals and solid chorus. The dance interludes were poor. Good value, 40Bgn, 20 euros or £18 for centre seats front row dress circle.

Bulgarian National opera performance was immaculate, starting from the cast and the beautiful venue.

Good traditional working, delicately danced with poise and elegance and the music played by a world class orchestra. An evening to be remembered.

This is a very well kept secret of the charming Sofia city. Standard of performances is very high. Of course Bulgarian singers are famous - but the ballet company equally good! Visited don Quixote last Sunday, amazing! Going for the Wagnerian Ring upcoming two weekends. Still (even good!) seats to get, snd the prices a third of what we are... More

We took my 5 year old son to a special Opera performance for children, and it was great. It was in Bulgarian, which neither of us understand much of, but it was still a really enjoyable experience. High quality performers, good costumes, good sets, great orchestra, and all structured in a way to keep children entertained. Highly recommended! It was... More

We enjoyed the performance so much that I have to write this review right now, having just got back to our hotel. The opera house is a small venue but honestly that added to the experience. Looked like it was a sold out show. The performance was so phenomenal, the three hours passed without us even realizing it. What beautiful... More

I recommend all the opera and ballet lovers to visit the National Opera and Ballet in Sofia. It may not the best opera house in the world but there are definitely really good opera singers and ballet dancers who are worth it to be seen. I would strongly recomment the performances of the operas "Lakme", "Madame Butterfly" and "Tosca", and... More

I cannot recommend this enough. The prices are extremely reasonable, and the quality is phenomenal. I was able to go to what I believe was an extra/encore production of The Nutcracker and every aspect was on point. The ballet was beautiful and the orchestra was amazing! I would go every night if I could.
