It is very cool that they found this during the digging for the creation of a new hotel, and then they preserved the amphitheatre in the basement and keep it open for tourists. You have to go inside the hotel lobby and then down the...More

This is a wonderful example of an easily accessible historical/cultural landmark. It's next to the station, so there's no fee involved. It is captioned in English, so that's a bonus. It's also clean, aesthetically pleasing, and well-maintained. It was such a stroke of genius for...More

Ruins are pile of rocks till there are explanations within the context of history and the modern world. This is no exception. The uniqueness of this ruin is the blending of the old and new structure architecturally and functionally.

The Serdica Amphitheatre offers an interesting piece of history and is indeed a fun place to explore. We found it fascinating and appreciate the preservation of this piece of Sofia's history. Our children loved exploring around the area.

After seeing dozens of former amphitheatres withering outside or roped off, it's kind of nice to see one in use. It is incorporated in a hotel as a sort of reception area and as part of their spa. Small, but nicely done.
