Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Housed in a beautiful building, this market has every type of meat product, many types of cheese and dozens and dozens of eggs. It was delightful to talk to the vendors and learn about the local foods. The peppers stuffed with cheese or a cabbage mixture fascinated me. One vendor even offered me a sample of the cheese.

It's a big market place in the city center and a must visit place in my opinion. There were so many benchs and you can try the products. The staff was so friendly. We went to the bench of Adin Adilovic, which was the center of the market. I am not sure but i believe it was 13th. We bought some dried meats but because of the rules of cabin baggages unfortunately we couldn't buy ajvar and kajmak. We absolutely recommend to visit there even though you don't buy anything.

I went there with a tour guide who arranged for us to sample many things. Everything was great (I'm a huge cheese fan to begin with). I ended up buying cheese and you wouldn't believe the size of the wheel I had for 3 marks. Was a steal! The people who work there seem happy. Good vibes. From the outside, it's not obvious that it's a market.

This market is clean and not overly crowded. Many friendly shopkeepers who are happy to explain their products and offer samples to entice you to buy some meats and cheeses for your picnic.

This market resembles a opera theater from the exterior and is a National monument of Bosnia and Herzgovina .This market built in 1895 in the Neo- Renaissance style was designed by August. Butsch. On entering this market was amazed at the cleanliness and arrangement of the fish and meat market sections of this market as i am accustomed to the First World markets of Europe.Akin to "Pork legs" cured and preserved as bacon for months in restaurants in Spain and Portugal was awed at the sight of beef sausages and meat preserved in the same manner in this spotless clean meat and fish market of Sarajevo. As the majority population of Sarajevo are Muslims pork products were non existent in this large 5-star style market and the shop owner gave me a taste of various beef products including cured mutton. You can also buy cheese and other dairy products in this excellent market.

It was completed in 1895 and is considered a national monument in BiH. Lots of local foods for sale from meats to veggies, fruits and cheese, pastries...you name it. Take a peek at where the locals shop.

Markthalle (Market Hall in German) was one more work of the famous architect Josip Vancas, who left his stamp on the image of this town forever - and we are deeply grateful to him for that.

A variety of local food is offered here at a normal price. The location is well managed and clean and the selling points are nicely situated in the building to have an overview of the offer. It opens at 6.00 AM closes in the afternoon I believe at 5 PM.

Gradska Trznica during the Bosnian war was a very busy market, here one morning in February it was heavily bombed by the Serb-Croatian militias that caused the death of a little more than 50 people. Now the building is fully renovated and it presents a commemorative plaque in memory of the many victims. Located right in the heart of the old town across the street that leads to the doors of Bascarsija.

This markale (marketplace) stands in history as the site which was bombed in Feb1994 (and again later in Aug1995) during the Siege of Sarajevo, in which 68 civilians were killed, leading finally to UN intervention. An impressive building right on Mula Mustafe street, in the rear stands a memorial to those who died. Today it remains a bustling marketplace where you can buy fresh produce, meat, and cheese, and sample from the friendly shop owners. A great place to try some of the truly unique smoked meats of Bosnia that will entice you to purchase samples to go. The shops are also a great place to buy souvenirs of coffee and sweets.
