The Białowieża Fores is World Heritage and the home of the European bison!

In this review I talk about the Belarusian part of the Bialowieza Forest! I've been there so many times, I think more than 10. I see how this place develops and I am sure a... read more

Even though this place is popular with travelers hoping for a glimpse of the European Bison, I did not get a glimpse of any animal (other than a few squirrels). Towards the end of the cycling route is an enclosure with different animals (including the European Bison) I cycled around the entire forest (27 kms). That was probably the only... More

An hour's drive from Brest, this park has a replica of an old farm house, makes vodka and has a zoo (unusual for a national park). The zoo has two beautiful brown bears in small damp concrete and steel cages.

The forest isn't ancient as I have seen written in places. Essentially it is a large pine forest with some oak and silver birch thrown in. Bus from Brest costs 3.81 BYN, and bike hire for 3 hours cost 13.00 BYN, but two hours to cycle around is sufficient. There were cars, trucks and tractors along the cycling roads, which... More

I see how this place develops and I am sure a successful future waits it. I adore it! If you are interested in animals, if you want to see the unique untouched forest, then I think... More

Belovezhskaya forest may seem a great place with large expanses of forest, good places for cycling, with some museums, ethnographic places, etc. There is also high possibility to see some wild European forest animals – deers, boars and even bisons in the forests. For these not so lucky to see them in nature there is a kind of zoo –... More

If you are in Belarus, then a visit to this forest is a must. It can easily be visited on a day trip from Brest using the local buses. I couldn't find much information online so here's what the situation was when I travelled there in September 2015. Note: the lady in my hotel and the woman at the Intourist... More

Great place for cycling, lots of fresh air, cheap and tasty food, credit cards everywhere accepted. You can also see bisons and some other animals, visit the residence of the Belorussian Santa Claus and some museums. Recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the World Heritage Committee by its decision of June 2014 approved the extension of the UNESCO World Heritage site “Belovezhskaya Pushcha / Białowieża Forest, Belarus, Poland”, which became “Białowieża Forest, Belarus". It comprises both national parks today. In this Belarusain National park is a part of the core and buffer zone of this... More
