More
National Gallery of Art was founded on January 11, 1954, although its beginnings date back to 1946 with the functioning of Art Pinakoteka. The National Gallery of Art is a state museum, research, and scientific institution. Its objective is the enrichment of the collection, conservation, study and promotion of national heritage values in the field of visual arts. Also through temporary exhibitions National Gallery of Arts promotes significant trends to the public, from visual art tradition to the contemporary methods, which are now being applied in Albania and all around the world. The mission of The National Gallery of Arts is to inspire and educate the young generations to come closer to the visual arts. We want everyone to feel part of the extraordinary world of art.

The art was good but, not much context/english. There is a free app to explain the pieces, but the wifi doesn't work in the gallery. The staff weren't particularly helpful either, chatting loudly amongst themselves and when we asked for a bathroom and they simply...More

This museum is badly kept but has some interesting exhibitions (those hundreds gruesome stuffed rats!) and a small but beautiful collection of homo-erotic communist / stalinist art.

This gallery is definitely worth a visit when in Tirana. It's not a very big collection so if you have a spare hour you could see most of the gallery. The ground floor has a space for temporary exhibitions as well as a small room...More

National Gallery of Arts is one of the most crucial art institution in Albania. There you can visit a huge collection from Albanian artist in decades, and season exhibitions.

Not a lot to see there. Only 2 small rooms. Nothing to read to get information. Very disapointing. I wish they give more info for foreign visitors.

We were in a group and didn't have long here but it was a fascinating insight into art of the Hoxha era and since. The was a special exhibition of work by an artist named: XHAFA in a side gallery.

For what comes to art, don't expect that much. However, for an art historical and historical perspective, the museum is a great little treasure chest of delightful examples of socialist realism, both sculpture and particularly paintings. There are changing special exhibitions (for an extra fee,...More

We walked 450 m south from our Tirane International Hotel. Being fronted by the eye catching 2013 "Cloud Pavilion" sculpture, this 1954 building can't be missed. Our entry this Saturday was without charge and we were free to wander dodging an small French tour group....More

The museum lacked LED lighting and aircon, so on a summer day it was not exactly a pleasant interior temperature, but lack of funding and enthusiasm are further ills. The Specia Qamil Grezda exhibition hosted by his sin Emir saved the day, as the art...More

The small room of 19th century paintings on the ground floor has some interest and merit. They display a few works of non-religious subjects. The faces of the peasantry captivate the viewer and depictions of costumes worn at rural festivals hold your interest especially well....More
