It was not what we expected.
I can say the welcoming singing was beautiful and the food was superb..even the fijian dancing and the fire dance was exxellent.
The tour leader is a very informative guide but somewhat of a gold digger....he insisted on giving tips secretly. Why? When there's a bowl at the end to offer our appreciation. He said that that the Chinese would take all the tips in the bowl. And how come most of the demonstration houses occupants are his family...daughter, sister, son who supposedly should be schooling and even a grandson. The active demonstration houses I could notice were fire making, pottery and weaving. The rest were just sitting idly. Even the items we can say were bought and to sell. None were handmade. Very hilarious.
A good place to visit but regarding tips I'd rather put in the bowl than giving secretly.

BULA Families ,Thanks a lot for visiting culture village. And we are highly appreciate for your notarial comments for the tour. We are happy to hear that you did enjoy the welcoming song, walking tour, dinner and the show. Our apology for the unexpected experience for the tour guide asking tips from you secretly. Kindly note that our company policy : Staff NOT ALLOWED to ASK TIPS.And the bowl of tips at end of the show is a sign of appreciation from guests who wish to give. And all the tips are shared among all the staff including grounds men, kitchen hands, drivers and reservation staffs.
The company support the tour guide by employing several of his families. His families occupied one of the staff cottage with paying a little money for other necessity. His unemployed wife suppose to look after his son and his grandson, however, they are lofting with the tour staff in the village.
The manager has already verbally advised him on the matters so many times.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by this unprofessional tour guide.
Your comments really help up a lot for improvement.
Thank you.

I was a returnee, I visited the village in 2017 around Christmas..and I took my husband and kids again last December. It was a totally different platform as from 2017. I mean back then the staff were very friendly..the ladies were huge and their singing were fantastic. And how they danced it was beautiful. Even the welcoming was spectacular. Last December as we visited the village..I don't know about the rest of the guests..but for my experience the welcoming songs were horrible and they cannot even say BULA as we arrived. The two young ladies at the counter..I meant one of them (the tall one) she cannot even smile..she is as stubborn as hell. Even when we ordered drinks like at the hotels the bartenders would say bula...thank you..enjoy your drinks. This one, she just gives us the drinks and just stood there like a statue. My God! I mean I cannot believe they've hired someone like that. They need to back to training. There was an old lady and a young one at tge counter before and awwww they were wonderful. I wish those kinds of people to be back at the village and it would be more enjoyable to visit again. In the village, some of the houses are not occupied like before..Even the kitchen, a lady used to cook there..I remembered we tasted smoked breadfruit there. Now it is vacant and it really stinks inside the big house. The souvenirs are not available anymore. I think everything at the village is fake. They are just in it for the money not for the culture. And the dancing, the traditional dances is way boring..I think they bring in new ones but do not have the experience. I can see there are only two boys from back then 2017 still there. Only thing I've enjoyed was the fire dancing and the food..awww it was delicious even the ones cooked underground.

Thanks for your wish to be a returnee to the cultural village. Your return shows how you have really experienced the cultural sight well and you have wanted to bring your family to explore what you have experienced.
There has been a slight change in arrangement of souvenirs and handicraft on display as you can see.
Thanks for your comments in regards to the Counter service that you have experienced. A young trainee tall girl with unprofessional attitude. Any inconvenience caused in regards to that bad counter attitude is highly regretted.
Dancing & other performances, Fire dancing has been improved to meet the audience expectations.
Thanks for your informative feedback.

This newer experience is a wonderful addition to the Nadi tourism scene.
The guide walks you through a recreated village explaining the culture. The fish and chicken is cooked in a traditional earth oven.. fantastic food!! Then the fire dancers delight.. loved it!!

Thanks for rating this cultural sight so high. An awesome feedback from someone who have visited to witness the performances and the items that were part of this show case.
Fish, chicken and other food baked underground is a type of our traditional cooking, mainly perform to Chiefs and other cultural ceremonial events. Other performances have been well trained to meet the need of our spectators.
. . . . an Awesome comment.

Went to a local heritage village to see a display of walking on hot stones. Followed by tribal dancing and souvenir shopping. Worth a visit but you are sitting on a bench for an hour in the heat.

Went through a Group tour. The Culture village itself was fabulous and excellent as described while booking. Warm and friendly staff, great local & traditional experience, sumptuous food and loved the Kava as well as Fire dance ceremony.

Positives first. The final dancing by the local ladies and men was a lovely experience, especially being invited to join them and realising exactly how skilled they are! The dances look so simple but are really quite complex, and they make it look so graceful and easy. The fire dancing was a little average, have seen better but all performed with gusto and seemed to be having fun. The tour itself was poorly organised - we waited 15 mins past the start time due to waiting on another group to arrive. Our guide, whilst knowledgeable and friendly, was difficult to understand - I struggled with his heavy accent. The tour itself was interesting but very 'staged' for the tourist consumption. Be warned it is not a real, functioning village. Take a good insect repellent and cover up or you will be eaten alive by mosquitoes. The dinner buffet was surprisingly good, with much more variety available than the standard Lovo (uncovered from the firepit as part of the tour). I had the most delicious green vegetable side dish heavily flavoured with fresh ginger - I'd love to have that recipe!
I think you would be better served visiting a real village. You would get more of an authentic experience, and the locals would get the money. Your dollars here go to its Chinese owners who really should provide a better infrastructure to showcase the very talented local people they employ. Your call.

Started a bit slow then we realised the humour in our host! Tino, our host was funny and kind and he gave us the tour to remember. He took time to explain the history and things with cultural significance and even made a fire from scratch like in ancient time! He showed us how they cooked in olden time in underground oven followed by the feast and entertainment which lasted the whole night. Even my shy teenager got up and danced voluntarily lol! This was about family fun and great memories to take away with us... thank you Culture Village team, you guys are awesome! Few things to remember! 1. Please freeze some water bottles and take them with you. During the village tour, if your don’t bring a bottle, there is no access to water until the end of the tour.(or make sure you buy some water or drink from the tour shop before walking off) 2. Ladies please cover your thighs and wear at least knee length sarong or pants to show respect to their culture within the village 3. Sunscreen and lots of insect repellent

Fiji Culture Village if you doing the night tour take with you Insect Repellent as you will be eaten alive no tank tops, enclosed footwear, and a TORCH as there are no lights on the tour and it's very dark. Take care when walking on the tracks as they are very uneven and you can easily twist or seriously hurt yourself if not attentive hence the requirement for a TORCH, the Kava Ceremony quiet interesting, Lovo Buffet Dinner was average BUT the Meke Show and Fire Dance is excellent overall an average night not sure if it's worth the $159.00 PP FJD

We did several cultural tours on this visit to Fiji. This was the best. Informative, fun and entertaining. We left feeling like we knew more about the history, culture and people. Plus we had a wonderful time.
We would go back.

You can call them direct. Pick up a flyer from your hotel. Or you can book it through the hotel. We booked it through the tour operator at our hotel and paid with a credit card

How toconfirm tour. Vouchet. 680840846 in Nadi for Feb 16....pick up at Hexagon hotel at 9 am
Written 15 February 2019
The tour was arranged by our resort manager, who gave us a voucher. This is what you show the reception upon arrival to village. We paid the fees after arrival. Pick up and drop off was also arranged by the village. I hope this is clear.
