Perhaps it was a the price (free), or the fact it was air conditioned or it was the main exhibit when we were there, but this place was a treat. Normally not big on museums of this type, I went a wee bit bit begrudgingly. I was glad I went. Good time.

Great museum with art from Argentinian artists. There is a free tour in English. The museum and tour are free.

Interesting place to visit. It is located in the neighborhood were rich people used to live . In the area you can still see some big or interesting houses with a big garden .

The Municipal museum is free to access and has plenty of interesting artwork to admire! Would definitely go there again!

This museum has some very unique artwork, my favorite is the depiction of the "33 orientales" as well as some work by Figari. However, I keep on coming back to visit the unique Japanese garden. Even though the garden is relatively small, it's vey special and a good place to think - specially poignant when it's raining.

Please do not visit this museum with high expectations. It is small but there are several very worthwhile pieces of Latin American art. It is an eccentric little museum but worth visiting for the art lover with an open mind.

Small museum with 4 galleries of paintings. One dedicated to Blanes and the others to rotating works. There is no charge but a box for donations. The major Blanes paintings portray significant events in Uruguayan history. The Japanese garden in the grounds behind the museum is very nicely laid out and makes for a very pleasant stroll. A nice way... More

This museum is very interesting, and the building is a work of art per se. You can see oil paintings, sculptures, and a variety of styles. Be sure not to miss it if you are in Montevideo and love art.

Be sure to tell your taxi driver Museo Blanes and the address as apparently not all of the locals know that Museo de Bellas Artes is this museum. The home and grounds turned museum is indeed beautiful. Unfortunately, there are not very many paintings; just 15 from Juan Manuel Blanes. His works are worth the trip. A few other artists... More
