Notable for its domed bell towers, this 1804 cathedral is the burial place for some of the country’s most important figures.

Of all the churches I visited, this one is the worst of all, very dirty and many people asking for money outside. Nothing to point out here.

Beautiful little place. Interesting history here. They have a lot of little things on display inside which I found to be quite a surprise. A popular stop on many different walking tours.

Visited this Cathedral in April, was in the Central Plaza opposite the Cabildo and the square was quite busy but once inside the Cathedral it was so peaceful. The main altar and the side altar dedicated to the Virgin of Thirty-three were lovely.

This is the historical cathedral in Montevideo. The interior has lavish religious carvings in the apses.

you cannot visit Montevideo without going to la ciudad vieja. I visited the catedral because I wanted to show my kids where their great grandparents wed. Quite a place.

Love looking at the artwork and architecture inside the churches and cathedrals and this one didn’t disappoint. Well worth a visit.

The most important church in Uruguay. Well attended service in a side chapel on a Wednesday afternoon. Very peaceful house of worship in the Old Town, in the middle of the pedestrian area.

This cathedral is suitably imposing. Lots of marble on the columns and statues and some colour down the back, where you can also see the stained glass in the dome. More impressive than Buenos Aires'.
