Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the beach in mid-January, so there were a lot of people out enjoying the warm weather and the beach. We didn't have swimsuits so didn't go in the water, but we enjoyed walking along the beach, people watching, and enjoying the views. It's not a majestic beach, with a bunch of high-rise buildings in the background, but there are lots of people having a good time, and it's just off the Rambla, so a fun detour to visit.

Great beach so close to the centre of town, what more could you ask for. Planty of sand and so many other things to see nearby.

The high rise right next to the beach. It is a nice place but buildings next to it makes the aesthetics less appealing.

I just came back from Montevideo where I went to the Pocitos beach. The beach itself is wide and sandy, with buildings and a road on one side. There are no facilities whatsoever (no showers), only a couple of terraces with ecological toilets. I strongly advice against swimming there. The water is muddy, brown and very dirty. It is coming from the river and it is extremely polluted. It was full of some tiny bugs that were biting. I only got in for a few minutes and I got a horrible skin rash. I cannot believe it that the authorities do not issue any warning about it.

The beach is nice with plenty of sand but the water was cold in December. Maybe in January is changing a bit...

Pocitos may not be Punta del Este, but for a city beach I always enjoy coming here on a warm day. Long enough for a decent stroll, easy to access via the Rambla, and plenty of restaurants nearby. I find Pocitos neighborhood a bit too quiet compared to downtown, but certainly worth spending a summer day hear soaking in some Uruguayan sun!

This is Montevideo’s beach area. Nice crescent shaped wide beach front, very clean and located in Pocitos. Pocitos is a very upscale neighborhood.

Playa Pocitos is a long beach with clean white sand and is popular with local residents. You can get a nice view of Montevideo while walking this area. Pocitos is also bordered by apartment buildings which casts a shadow on the sand late afternoon.

Pocitos is a long/wide beach which worth visiting. The sand is golden and very clean. This is the only beach I saw to be cleaned every morning with a special vehicle. Nice sand castle exhibition are taking place here, and I was happy to see one in progress. The water is not clean; it is brown as La Plata river pours its water in the vicinity but still acceptable for a dip.
