About
In 2011 we started a small organic farm. We produce many of our own vegetables, quinua and potatoes. Our farm is worked without agrochemicals or synthetic fertilizers, using many traditional techniques (plowing with oxen, rotating crops and biological controllers for pests & disease). A traditional Incan meal cooked on hot rocks, the Pachamanca Lunch includes a tour of our hotel, farm, Cañazo distillery and coffee roastery. Lunch includes chicken, pork, and lamb, potatoes, organic vegetables and salad, and chicha morada. It is served at covered picnic tables with views of the mountains, glaciers and archeological sites. We accommodate most dietary restrictions. For guests not staying with us, we ask for a 100% deposit in advance. Cancellations or modifications must be made before 2 pm the day prior to the reservation, otherwise we charge the full amount of the deposit as a cancellation fee. Daily at 12 PM & 2:30 PM; $67USD (Adult), $40USD (Child); total duration: approx. 2 hours.
Duration: 2-3 hours

Amazing accomodations and food at the El Albergue hotel located inside the train station at Ollantayabo. It's like your own private farm to table getaway. They roast their own coffee and brew their own brand of liquors. If you like food your in heaven. Great food on site, in the town square and anywhere in Peru.

Rooms are warm, clean and cozy with all the features you need. Including WiFi! The staff are out of their way friendly and amazing.

I couldn't recommend a better place to call your "Home Base" while exploring the Machu Picchu area.

We booked a Pachamanca experience at El Albergue Farm and it was amazing. The guide we had was very informative, the food was outstanding and the farm and the view just made it a completely memorable experience. Would highly recommend this as a "thing to do" while in the Sacred Valley

The Farm supporting the restaurant bat El Albergue is an educational diversion for all ages. There are flowers, crops, animals, coffee-roasting, and a distillery.

Unless you have a hotel room near the farm entrance, you're not likely to stumble onto it. Ask at the front desk, and they'll guide you up there. It's back in the corner .. up a walkway and then down a little path

The crops and animals are used at the restaurant as are the animals. We were offered rabbit for dinner, for example. You'll find their roasted coffee at tourist spots in the area, and you can see the roasting process. And they make a range of liquors. They'll let you sample.

We had young children, and they really enjoyed it. There's a small school next to the farm, and it was also fun for them to see a different kind of school.

This was a highlight of our trip to Peru. A very great place to stay, as well as the meal that was served for this experience was top notch. Got a chance to see guinea pigs (in their pens) and was able to learn about the local customs for celebrations. The meal took place at shaded picnic tables. Far more than one could eat. The hosts of the tour and of the cooking were very gracious and enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge.

The Pachamanca lunch was incredibly delicious and the entire experience was highly worthwhile. What a deal! The cooking style under hot stones was demonstrated and explained; as our food cooked we got a tour of the farm. We were served large quantities of chicken, pork and lamb; a beautiful salad; fava beans, sweet potato and potato, with wonderful sauces on the side. Beverages and dessert too. Then we enjoyed detailed tours of the coffee roasting facility and distillery. It was so fun assembling our own custom alcoholic beverage and personalized coffee roast, both beautifully and smartly packaged to take home.
The best was the energy, passion and dedication of the staff. They made us fans of the El Albergue model.

The food was great but it is not so much about the food as the experience. It is a glimpse into the history, culture and traditions of Peru. It is an education in science and art in one . It is the beauty of nature all around you and how elements of fire and earth can be combined to create a meal to sustain one. Enjoy it with your family and friends. It is truly an experience to remember and I for one will always cherish this memory.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We are so happy to hear that you not only enjoyed the Pachamanca Lunch, but that you enjoyed the entire experience. We love to hear that our guests took such great memories away with them. We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your time in Peru and that you will come back to see us again the next time you are in the Sacred Valley area.

Gorgeous farm definitely worth visiting before or after a meal at El Abergue. It will make you even happier about what you ate. It did for us. Our meal was fantastic, and touring the rows of vegetables in a pristine setting reinforced our conviction that we had consumed the best food in the city. It was a quiet almost serene spot, with animals, running brooks, and multiple shades of green. We didn’t stay too long because we had a train to catch, but I’m so glad we paid a visit.

The Albergue at Ollantaytambo organizes an excursion to their farm followed by an authentic inca Pachamanca lunch. First an English speaking guide, in our case very friendly and knowledgeable Natalia, shows you around the organic farm, which supplies most of the food stuffs to the restaurant at el Albergue as well. Then you are shown how the Pachamanca is prepared ... A hole in de ground is used to heat up stones with a fire, then the hole is cleared and filled with the hot stones, and various kinds of potatoes, lamb, chicken and pork meat, green beans and some herbs. This is covered by wet paper and sand and left alone for about 20 minutes. Then the hole is opened and the feast can begin! The whole procedure took less than two hours for a quite reasonable $35,-- per person. The food was too much for two persons but the farm men were more than happy to eat the rest - they looked very pleased that tourists wanted the Pachamanca today ...

We hurried to check in to El Albergues to make it to our reserved farm lunch! And wow, was it worth it!
The setting was relaxed and earthy, the food scrumptious, and the casual service was perfect. We dined at a picnic table with a few other travelers and enjoyed a great meal. The salad was fresh from from their organic garden- the best we had in our two weeks in Peru. The vegetables from the underground, hot rock roasting were yummy- we especially enjoyed the varieties of potatoes. The plentiful meats were tasty and moist and the sauces were the best. The chicha Morada we drank made of purple corn was delicious. Our afternoon on the farm set the tone of spectacular for the rest of our Peru travels.

Pachamanca Farm is adjacent to El Albergue hotel in Ollantaytambo. The farm lunch is fabulous. Fresh meat and produce cooked in an "earth oven" with heated stones (Inka style). Chicken, pork, guinea pig and great salad. They also roast coffee and make a clear alcohol that seems like a cross between rum and tequila.
