Learning all about the way the Incas engineered the stones to fit together is amazing in and of itself... But all the waterways and terraces they built were equally amazing. Highly recommend this attraction.

Go to as many ruins as you can while in Peru. They are all different and their history is fascinating. Read about them before you go and get a good guide if you can to explain the features you might miss at each site.

At breakfast staying at Casa de Wow!! The host was speaking to another guest about this hike. I am traveling solo and overheard and said I would join if you wanted a hiking partner. Ended up being a great day! New friend, great hike, amazing...More

A gentle 2-hour walk from town - some short steep uphill sections but mostly contouring. Once up above the valley you walk through huge Incan terraces with some of the irrigation channels still running. A beautiful and very uncrowned walk. The ruins are crude compared...More

These ruins are at least a 2 hour hike from Ollantaytambo, but a taxi will take on a hair raising at times, bumpy ride to the base of the ruins, then it is a 20 minute walk...up ...up. I don't know if this site is more...More

It was breathtaking. The hike up wasn't too long or vigorous, and it was absolutely stunning. Do it.

Sorry have. But you should be able to. Make sure to inquire (at the hotel?) how much it should cost and don't go unless the driver agrees to that amount. That's quite a distance.

That's fine. It should be a nice walk. But do leave some time and energy to go up the hills and terraces, which is a steep climb. From up there, there are also trails to hike around.

i think it is a bit late to start, given that the days are shorter. You will miss the best time of day on the trail. Best to over night then walk up from town centre.
