We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The ruins are an integral part of what makes up the Machu Picchu and are a must see. You should definitely take the time to descend and walk amongst this beautiful city.

Although much of the ruins have in effect been restored, this did not detract from the overall experience. We would strongly advise the use of a qualified guide who can provide cultural, historical and religious context as this will materially enhance the value and interest of the experience.

Having done the 1 day hike and arriving late in the afternoon, this was the best and quietest time of the day. We went back in the morning along with the other 2500 and it was still beautiful but challenging to get around all the groups of people.

More well preserved ruins at Machu Picchu. A guide is preferable to have at this site as the can offer a great deal of knowledge about MP.

NOTE: A lot of people have posted photos of the ruins of Machu Picchu and not the actual Paucarcancha Ruins - we came across this ruin on the first day on the Inca Trail and the view is just spectacular from the path! We took the time to take come gorgeous photos as you wont see another ruin from this view on the Inca Trail - I think you can also access this ruin with a car, need to check out that option as I saw this along the trek

Incas built some many constructions in the middle of the jungle and at the top of a mountain!! Again, the constructions are pretty well preserved, enjoy your time at Machu Picchu

One of the true wonders of the world and a big one on our bucket list and it didn't disappoint - Weather not that good but we were lucky and having been told by one of our guides the weather wouldn't clear we insisted on the trek to the top and soon after we reached the summit the sky's cleared - The History and the views and just fantastic and something you have to witness for yourself - the complete site is wonderful and so fascinating

Amazing history behind these ruins in the fore front of the mountain, especially if you have a guide with you who can explain the history behind them.

Fantastic and as awe inspiring as its publicity. Well organised transport system from nearest town. It does get busy even though there is a limit to the number of visitors each day. Use a guide to get the best from the visit. Lots of walking and steps so be prepared

Our guide explained alot about these and other ruins. Well worth checking out for sure.
Some are slightly eroded but most are really pristine. I love that.

Great photos from every corner at all times of the day.

Don't miss it.
