Spectacular trek with an excellent agency
This hiking adventure exceeded expectations. My friends and I booked this trip with Terra Quechua Peru The arrangements were very organized. We were greeted by our amazing guide and he was very informative and supportive throughout the 5 day trek. The porters and chef were the most humble and hard working people I have ever met, the food we were served three meals a day during the days trek was so delicious and exceeded expectations. We could not have asked for better trekking gear, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to Trek Choquequirao for an adventure! Keep in mind, you must be physically fit for this expedition, because there is a lot of steep hiking up and down. The views on Choquequirao trek are spectacular as is the final destination, but be prepared for a very physically tough hike.

Great Choquequirao Trek 5 Days 4 Nights with Local Trekkers Peru
Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights with Local Trekkers Peru was an unforgettable adventure. We are a family of 5, we were in contact with Alberto the manager of this Company and it was the person who was in charge of helping us plan our great adventure to the citadel of Choquequirao. our knowledgeable guide was Wilbert, who is very well trained in this challenging walk, in addition to having vast information about the life, culture and history of the Incas. We really learned a lot with Wilber and we had such a good time with him that we are still in communication from home. We also had Timoteo as our cook, who is amazing at preparing the best meals, which we tasted throughout our stay in Cusco. Gracias Timoteo. Then there was Mario, our muleteer, who was in charge of transporting all the logistics from one camp to another. Without his help, this adventure would surely not be possible. Camping under the Andean stars with a great team and overall savoring delicious meals made the experience even more special. The Choquequirao Trek with Local Trekkers Peru It's something you have to do at least once in your life, you won't regret it.

Once in a lifetime experience! Book this! Local Trekkers is the best!
Choosing Local Trekkers Peru for the Choquequirao trek was an absolute success, Alberto, the Manager, was very communicative from start to finish, answering all our questions. We planned this family trip several months ago, and the wait was worth it. The adventure was nothing short of magical. We did this hike in 6 days and 5 nights and everything was very well planned from start to finish, our guide Roberto was very knowledgeable and friendly, the food with our Chef Timoteo was the best we had during our stay in Cusco, and our muleteer Juan , he was always in a good mood helping everyone in the group. The attention to detail and personalized touch of Alberto the Manager and Roberto our guide made the entire experience unforgettable. From breathtaking landscapes to hidden Inca treasures, every moment felt like a discovery. I can't recommend this agency enough, the perfect combination of adventure, history and fun. Local Trekkers Peru 100% Recommended!!!

Great Hike with Sam Travel and Liz!
We did the Choquequirao Trek with SAM Travel Peru and it was incredible. We had the best time going to the site and getting to know more about Incan history. Liz was the best guide who was always fun to be around, and was very knowledgeable on the subject. Andres made us the absolute best food that gave me the energy to get through the challenging hike. This was the best place to see condors, we have been to Colca canyon and we have not seen any Condor! The trail to the site is very difficult specially the up-hils and Liz and team made sure everyone made it there okay and we were all taken care of. Won't ever forget this great experience with SAM Travel Peru!

Memorable Choquequirao Trek with Local Trekkers Peru.
My family and I have just returned after an extraordinary trek of 5 days and 4 nights to the ruins of Choquequirao, for this we hired the services of Local Trekkers Peru and opted for 5 days instead of 4 thanks to the advice of Alberto the Manager and Since my parents are 55 years old, this itinerary was perfect for them and for all of us, who purposely were 6 people in total and all of us were family. The Choquequirao Trek is very strong, especially in the ascent of the second day and the ascent of the last day, but it is something that is worth it and especially when this type of family adventure allows you to connect with your loved ones in several aspects. Speaking a little about the service of Local Trekkers Peru, well let me tell you that they did their best effort, we had an excellent guide, Wilber, very attentive, very knowledgeable with a lot of experience in trekking and above all a very sociable and friendly person, with a fluent English. Then we had Timoteo, as our cook, or should I say our Master Chef. It is incredible what timoteo can do in the kitchen and in a remote place, we were never hungry, the food was delicious, abundant, varied and fresh, the dishes were very well decorated, timoteo even prepared a cake at the last dinner to say goodbye and to still make our experience something that we will remember forever, even at that moment, I became a little nostalgic and some tears came to my eyes. Finally, we had Rony, our muleteer, who, together with Timoteo, was in charge of transporting and setting up all the camping equipment, such as tents, tables, etc., so when we arrived at each camp everything was already installed and even the food was ready. I can only thank Alberto and his team at Local Trekkers Peru, for making the strong trek of Choquequirao something more pleasant and one that we will remember forever, so if you are looking for a genuine trekking and camping experience towards Choquequirao, do not hesitate to contact them.

Choquequirao to Machu Picchu Trek 7 days
We just returned from our trip to Machu Picchu through Choquequirao, it was 7 days of a very difficult trip with incredible views of the canyons, valleys, snow-capped mountains, etc. The ruins of Choquequirao are really incredible, the day we were there, we were the only ones at the site, which was wonderful. Our guide Jean Pier from Orange Nation was spectacular and had a lot of knowledge of the entire trekking route. Machu Picchu was the cherry on top of our trip... Just Amazing! Thank you very much JP and Orange Nation Peru!

The service of the agency in Choquequirao was 10/10
Our experience with Terra Quechua Peru for 4 days in Choquequirao was wonderful. The staff made everything 10. Both the guides and the chefs were very good. The hike, although challenging, offered spectacular scenery. Getting to Choquequirao and exploring its terraces and temples without crowds was amazing, the nights camping under the stars were magical. I highly recommend this tour to adventure and history lovers; it is an unforgettable journey and a true test of endurance - a hidden treasure worth discovering!

My friends and I did the Choquequirao Trek 6 days and 5 nights back in May 2024 con LOCAL TREKKERS PERU and it was an experience of a lifetime! Communications before the trip were excellent, Alberto from the office was answering every question quickly and providing information we did not even consider.

Jose our guide was really nice and helpful. He was a good spiritual guide and knowledgeable about the local customs, flora and fauna, and the Inca site of Choquequirao.
Cristobal was our wonderful chef who prepared great food as if he was working in a restaurant, I couldn't believe such yummy food could be made on a trail. Many options vegetarian, meat, and fish was cooked to perfection.
Domingo the horseman was excellent. He took care of us with the utmost respect to our comfort and privacy.
He worked hardest, taking care of the mules, as well as then setting up camp and assisting with anything else needed in the kitchen.

Ultimately our driver was terrific, SO safe.
Overall, we had a truly positive experience with LOCAL TREKKERS PERU and would definitely recommend it to every trekking fan. Thank you for this UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE!

The trail from the official start point is 31.5km. Most people take transport to the Mirador. The price for tourists...is 50sol for the whole vehicle from the town. The ride is 20 minutes (Google over estimates). The same price will attempt to be charged to tourists upon arrival at the main road above Cachora, where buses will drop you. These buses are between 25-30 sol from the main Cusco terminal, though I flagged down the same bus on my return for 20sol. Apparently tour minivans are 50sol to Cachora itself from Cusco, which is definitely the better option as a shared taxi from the road to Cachora is 10sol (don't let them charge you more!), thus, the difference is only 10sol and the bus is longer and without Aircon (it was baking hot on both journeys).

Choquequirao's ticket office is open from 10am-4pm and the price is 60sol or 30sol for students. After passing this office there is no time limit within the park, nor is there a checkpoint even at the archaeological site itself. Actually, you don't have to pay if you arrive outside this time frame...

Food and drinks throughout the trail get more expensive as you near the end as all supplies are brought by donkeys/mules/horses. The first refuge sells water for 8sol (2.5L) and the last for 15sol...this is relative to all other products bar WiFi which most places have for 5sol. Camping varies between 6-10 sol with your own tent. Most huts or private rooms are between 60-70sol. I rushed the site itself in 2 hours 30 mins which was not enough due to the distance between aspects of the compound. 6 hours is definitely recommended....you'll understand when you see the descent to the Inca terraces on either side. The trail itself is strenuous - and in the day the heat is sweltering and there is no shade in the valley. Sand flies are rampant too so bring protection. In the valley temperatures are high even at night whilst on the peaks it is very cold at night. The experience, however, was fantastic and I really recommend to all! The closer one gets to Choquequirao the more frequent free clean water supplies can be found from streams. Though the site itself is heavily restored which I personally find disappointing, it is nonetheless, an absolute must-visit destination, especially before it gets ruined (cable car construction is already planned and the surveyors are present as we speak!). 110%, You Have To Go! :)
